http://download.blackhand-studios.org/standalone_cp1.zip -- Blackhand Studios' Core Patch 1 provides new maps and game fixes and enhancements

As for the Red Alert mod, they are working on a new version -- I would hold off until that's done because there will be more servers up for it at that time. You can keep track of their progress at http://www.apathbeyond.com.

You can also find a lot of newbie-related information at http://www.renegadewiki.com, which is the community's project to get all of our knowledge in one place.
