i wanna try out some custom maps can start a game as 1 player? like instead of a mision. i do have 2 pc's but would be easier to look around using only 1.

in LAN mode set the number of players option to 1.

You mean try it out without a server or anything? Yeah just go to

Multiplayer LAN
Host Game
Make the number of players 1
Dedicated should not be checked
Choose your maps
I would say to set your credits to 9999 or something so you can get a vehicle to browse the map with.

If it says GAMEPLAY PENDING then go back and uncheck dedicated server.
