The only part that I know works is the video card. While I was waiting for my other stuff I had it going in my old system.

Take out the RAM and put it back it, fixed my computer one time. No beep from mobo or anything.

My PSU is 400w, so that shoulnt be the problem. Ram thing doesn't work and I'm pretty sure that card is compatable, other people have been running the same setup.

Can I just ask a quick question. When you plug your monitor into your GFX and power up the computer, does the colour of the monitor indicator change? For example, My monitor has two colours. A Blue colour when the monitor is on and is displaying picture and a orange colour which means its on standby.
Edit: To your last reply on that other forum. Does your mobo have onboard Video?

If youre thinking that the monitor is not working, it is, that's what I'm using to post (connected to my old system) and no, my motherboard does not have onboard video.

Well, the monitor turns on, sees that there is no signal, then turns off. By gfx do you mean my video card?

Sir Phoenixx wrote on Thu, 09 August 2007 21:50 | Did you plug your power supply into your video card? And on neweegg.com on the EVGA Geforce 8800gts, the minimum powersupply requirement is 400w, maybe yours is just slightly not powerful enough.
|
Did you attach the P4 Plug, check if all cables are attached, 24ATX pin, p4PIN, 6pin for VGA, ecta ecta.
What "kind" of powersupply did you get with that new rigg? How much does it deliver on the 12V? read the sticker of the side and post the value's.
It's hard testing, as I assume you don't have a DDR2 motherboard in your old rig, else you could see if the RAM is "ok"..
The Video card 8800 works on your old rig from what I read?
If that's the case then:
Motherboard, Mem left... maybe powersupply depends on what brand and value that PSU can deliver.
Try the PSU on the old rig.
to make sure, mem and motherboard are left.

check the booklet to see what it means? Maybe it should be green?

You don't have to try another hard- drive if it doesn't boot at all.
Just use 1 Mem stick, One PSU, VGA, CPU. That's it keep it as plain as possible and then strip of the remaining possibility's.
Something else:
If you know how you can bootup the motherboard with a screw dryer. Put the motherboard on a surface which does NOT conduct electricty, insome cases there is a short circuit between the case and motherboard, the only way you can find out is by doing this.
Only if you have an Idea of what I mean else leave this part, because if you toch the motherboard with a screw dryer on the wrong place it could be over.

The motherboard is BRAND NEW, I just took it out of the pakaging yesterday. Everything else is also brand new exept for the case and PSU which I have used since april. I have tried taking out the ram, and doing one at a time, nothing works.

is there a way you can test the mobo without all your new parts?
like use ram from old computer if its compatible or something like that. basically im thinking that you got a dead motherboard. and from what i read in reviews about motherboards its not that uncommon to get a dead one on arrival. what im trying to say is test your motherboard out. or send it back to the manufacturer, and exchange it.
with all solutions listed here and you having tested them all out and still not having a clue as to what this is. im sure you can tell the manufacturer that this motherboard is faulty.
also a quick check that might help, is your mobo turned to the right voltage at the back?

I would suggest you look into a new power supply. 400W is not enough to power an 8800 card AND all your other hardware.

[quote title=Jeep Rubi wrote on Fri, 10 August 2007 12:09]What's a P4 plug? Is it the 4 pin connector for the CPU, if it is then yes, that's plugged in.
This is the PSU:
Quote: | Ive taken all the memory out and attempted it that way, from what I hear it should still do something onscreen to tell you that you have no memory.
|
No, it wouldn't show anything if you don't have memmory the motherboard will make some noise, or most likly beeps.
Quote: | I don't think I can try my old PSU because its only a 300W so it wouln't have a chance at running this.
|
If it has a p4/24pin atx then you can just attach the motherboard to it and leave the new PSU just for GFX
Quote: | It didn't come with a booklet, but the online manual doesn't mention anything about lights.
|
That's odd, ask someone on EVGA forums, as Im sure a tech there knows what it means
I have the board and everything layed out on my desk on top of an anti-static bag and have been starting it with a screwdriver for tests.
Quote: | Nothing is working, my theory is that the motherboards 4 pin power connection is faulty so the CPU isn't getting power. That could explain why absolutely nothing is showing up onscreen
|
It could be just a DOA.. everything can be broke even new stuff.
You could test it by using the 300Watt for motherboard ( if it has a P4 connector, connect it) and make the new PSU run the Graphics. Do this by connecting the black and green wire on the psu.

As for the PSU, I 'never heard of the brand. But they have a site and it doesn't look that el cheapo. + 20A on the 12V is not THAT bad so.. I guess if the PSU is fine it should be ok, to at least get it running
Have you tried the new PSU on your old 300watt rig?

That's what I asked aswell, the thing is older PC's either way have SDR, or SDR DDR1, and the sys being build now a days all have DDR2, so he can't test that. Personnaly I think its the motherboard or ram thats DOA.
