I want to play Renegade but renguard won't let me [message #209097]

Recruit

Last night I was happilly playing on UN servers without using renguard, when 3 people thought I was cheating (zerosurfer is my username in Renegade too) where they got this from I don't know.

Anyhow, I was forced to use renguard, installed it started gamespy and Renegade worked first time. Tried today and am still trying, it loads Renegade, then says I'm not running renguard, and kicks me.

What has happened between switching pc off last night and on today to have corrupted my game.

Check the message in RenGuard. It must say the same name you use to play ingame, or it won't see you on the RenGuard network.

It seems to have sorted itself out, bur for how long I don't know.

It's been the same username I've used for many years, and I had used it previously with renguard. The query was that rg was working last night fine, I played for hours, yet today I was a nobody for a good 4 hours.

A glitch with me or rg?

It's just like I said. The name that's in RenGuard must match the name that's used ingame for it to recognize it as connected to the RenGuard network. If the name doesn't match the one you use, just open Renegade, log in, then close Renegade and RenGuard, then open up RenGuard and Renegade again, and it should recognize you running RenGuard.

Basically, RenGuard keeps the name of the last player who logged in to XWIS/GameSpy/etc., and uses it the next time RenGuard is opened.

That only happens when you're using XWIS/WOL. I thought i'd just point that out.
