Hello everyone:

Today we are starting a new paradigm. By "we" I mean the server owners who participate in the Server Owners' forum here.

Basically no one knows who started the "AOW" abbreviation for playing NORMAL Renegade, but the actual name is "Command and Conquer Mode". So, we are starting a new trend to be correct, and instead of using AOW, we are using the new acronym CCM.

Personally, I am starting the trend by referring to my server as "AOW/CCM". Once a lot of people know what CCM stands for, it will become "CCM/AOW". Sometime after that, the "AOW" designation will be dropped entirely.

AOW stands for "All out War" right? Thats what I always thought anyway, I dont think it fits, CCM is Better.

What's the point? Everyone knows what "AOW" means by now, so you're only going to confuse a few people when nothing has changed. If you hate the term "AOW" for whatever reason, why not just call it "n00bstories Renegade server" since there's only one online game type besides modded stuff anyway. Unless it's stated otherwise, everyone expects a server to be "AOW", don't they?

It's not what Westwood called it so I guess you could say it's "incorrect"... and it's your server so you can call it "AOW", or "CCM", or whatever you want really. I don't think anyone is going to be all that bothered as long as it's still the same game.

What strikes me as... well... weird, is arranging a movement among server owners to remove the term "AOW" completely. I mean, it's just a perfectly innocent nickname for a type of game, and it's actually descriptive too. I didn't realise so many people were that picky.

I was always told AllOutWar meant every soldier for himself. So the same as Deathmatch. Which kindof confused me when i first started seeing AOW on alot of servers.

It's more a result of a joke between the serevr owners. We had good fun yesterday and decided to take the joke one step further. No need to get all serious about it, even though there's a tiny serious part in the joke too (which Crimson explained) Wink.
