I recently logged onto BF2 and was prompted with the promoted screen, and apparently I was a Corporal. I knew full well I had about 9,000 points to go until Corporal. BFHQ confirmed this, I was a Corporal at 1,510 points. I couldn't find anything on EA's site about it. Is this some sort of glitch or did EA make the gaps between rankings more realistic?

It's cool because most of the ranks were unattainable without either padding your score (whomever does that should be shot on sight) or spending an ungodly amount of time in the game.
I don't know about the awards, but I think they should still be hard to get... you shouldn't get a sniping award just because you sniped 10 people.
