when i press ~ and type extras fnkqrrm it says extras enabled but where do i turn them on and what are they?

. Anyway, it is one of the shift keys (I think, if not then it's alt) you have to hold.

You only need to type extras and it will work. After you've done that, walk up to a purchase terminal and hold alt while entering in the characters or vehicles section, then you will see the secret units and you can buy them.
