Star Trek is a far better series than Star Wars. Not only are the universe and characters better developed, but it's actually semi-plausible. That, and there's plenty more material out there to enjoy, and because most of it comes in the form of television episodes, you don't have to watch all of it to know what the hell is going on.

On he other hand, Star Wars is just flashy smoke and mirrors. Laser swords? "The force"? It's like Lord of the Rings in space.
