ATI had plans (if not done already) to make their drivers open source so 3rd party people can deal with driver issues for their video cards, let alone the issues brought about by vista. I personally never considered a ATI laptop, this one has 1071mb Geforce 7 Mobile video card (integrated tho).

They did, for linux.

If the laptop has drivers, go for it. If it's made before the voodoo2 it'll have a 64bit driver.

I've been running Vista X64 for little more then a year and a half and haven't had any trouble running any programs. Went through a 3850 and a 3870 and they both had great drivers. I replaced my ATi's with a 8800GT and it's so-so with drivers. They've crashed, but that's my fault Tell Me

Windows has something called Wow64 or wow32, I forget. It's windows-on-windows emulator for 32 bit programs
