Renegade Tournaments[ 27 votes ]
1. I think this is a great idea! 10 / 37%
2. I don't think it is going to work out. 17 / 63%

Anyone want to help me host Renegade tournaments? I am working on a site with an XWIS admin on this and we've created a site. I am looking for someone with experience, knowledge, and a fair player for this. If anyone is interested let me know please Very Happy

As of now, I don't have much information on the tournaments, but if you want to know more information about our site, visit http://cncbattle.com/community/index.php?/topic/6-cncbattle-feature-list-v10/pag e__pid__6#entry6

I am interested in what you guys think about these 'tournaments' we are planning and I hope to get some people willing to help us out, thanks!

This has been done before, and has great success in the past. Renegade lacks the competitive edge for these type of games, else Clanwars.cc would be operating just now. There is only a small group of players left who participate in this style of games regularly.

Well this topic is still going on. I have to say I haven't watched much Anime recently (maybe a year or so) the last thing I saw was GITS (for the third time)

Im not too sure whether I just dont enjoy Anime anymore or whether its just I dont have time really to shit and watch it.

yep organising ren tournaments is a walk in the park :>

we've had a few community tournaments and we had clanwars, but in the current state of rene, organised matches are very hard to come by. Commwars hardly ever get played anymore...

I like the initiative, but I guess it's hard to organize proper teamgames nowadays. There are a few communities which can guarantee enough people, and they are usually a lot larger than other communities, meaning games in which either a lot of people disappointed, or games in which teams are mixed communities.

Seriously, with all the attitude like: "it's hard enough anyway" FUCKALL is going to be done

there are MORE than enough people who'd like some matches, and it's really not that hard to organize, as long as people just get together, play, and don't bitch about how hard it is.

There's more than enough players, but it's easier to organize tournaments with clans and communities rather than with individual players. In terms of large active communities with the ability to send players and sub backups, there aren't too many big groups left. And organizing a tournament with just individuals is hard, because of the lack of communication between teams (in and out of the game), people don't show up or come late, or just plainly suck.

The last tournament we had I think was in 2009, and that was pretty good. But a lot of the communities and clans that played two years ago are either less active or inactive. It was a lot of fun, but I think small clanwars and funwars are the best it can get now.

The last tourny was in 2010, and FlaminGnz was one of several people instrumental in getting the "RGCT 2" going.

As mentioned above, there are quite a few players to go around, but organization is quite a challenge, as I'm sure you're aware.

But the real challenge with hosting a Renegade tourny is the specter of cheating. There were a couple issues last time, and the competition ended on a sour note where a community that 'won' had lost due to a player on their team cheating. The nature of Renegade means there will need to be a real degree of scrutiny. So you'll need to have a lot of input from community managers, and those who are very familiar with the game. Hard decisions, will need to be made, even if they're based on 'proof' that isn't always reliable or solid.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but just fair warning. I'm sure you can contact FlaminGunz if you are serious about this, and he can grant you access to the forum that has information from last year's RGCT, and how it was held.

renegade players are far too angry and can't get along long enough to play organized games

mudkips we appreciate your inentions and of course id love to see another tournament
but you ask the people who organised both RGCT's.... its not easy lol

As nikki said, BlueBala, if your interested (i dont know whether youv even heard of RGCT). But there were two large rene tournaments in 2009 and 2010 that included somewhere between 10-15 communities and each spanned over several months.
Myself, Tiesto, nikki and a small team of people organised the 2010 tournament, despite the cheating-related issues, we did get alot of matches going.

so if you are interested, send me a pm and i can give you access to the forums where the tournament was hosted, so you can see the kinds of issues we dealt with.

Its kind of alot of info to just tell with no direction....

Basically it was a 3month global tournament that involved a group stage and then proceeded to elimination matches as finals. Around 12ish communities took part, ranging from small clans to the largest rene communities

There were a set of common rules (pretty much clanwar style), dedicated servers (very important) running the correct maps, correct settings and were passworded to ensure teams were able to play private matches

All servers ran the same bots and reported the same details to central IRC channels. IRC channels and ingame were monitored and regulated by a team of admins/mods. Team captains were assigned the moderator commands they needed to ensure games ran smoothly. The RGCT 2 admins had various access to private IRC channels, a private forum where various issues were sorted out prior to and during the tournament. Some of us from the host community also had box access where we were able to access all the advanced server logs, track players and make sure results were reported correctly.

that covers alot of the basics, but more work goes into it than alot of people know Razz
id be happy to grant you access to the private forums, where you can see how things happened, again PM me your interest and il give you the details you need...
