I am too cool for either. I play very bad air instruments instead, like a real man!

Remember, kids: illiteracy is cool. If you took the time to read this, you are clearly a loser who will never get laid. You've been warned.

Rockband 2 sucks. Most of the good songs are on Guitar Hero, and even some of the bad songs. The rest of the sound track is retarded, playing "music" from bands I've never heard of... and suck.

It has better character detailing abilities (like more options to edit your character (such as more specific accessories for different parts of the body as well as skin abnormalities, ect. The movement and adjustment controls are much better too.)

But the actual game itself is sub-par to Guitar Hero: World Tour. The user interface looks much better than Guitar Hero's, but it is hard to play precisely. The squared notes are much harder to coordinate with than the round ones. (Making hammer-ons and stuff harder to read and play, even if it is well within your ability to play them)

I'm sticking with GH as my favorite game in this category.

I like Rock Band for the drums, and when you're really really bored with friends, singing can be the funniest thing ever.

yeah

Guitar Hero: World Tour has drums. They are, in my opinion, better. (Rockband's is just 4 pads and a kick, Guitar Hero's has 3 pads, 2 cymbals and a kick)

However, Rockband's ION Rocker premium drumset is insane though. Costly, but cool none-the-less. But then again, Activision released a patch so they can be used in Guitar Hero as well.
