I've been unable to get my sound card working. And I need some help in order to get it working.

I tried installing some tools for my sound card from the installation disk. Well, while it was installing, this blue screen comes up talking about dummping physical memory. I just decide to let it do it's thing. (I couldn't do anything anyway) Well, after that I get into windows and I get 2 windows saying "The sound device is not properly installed. Please install the device and try again." Well, I've been trying to install the drivers but it won't let me. It like installs, but then it won't install. Everytime it's installing there is always this file it could not find. So I stopped the manual install and used the Windows "Install new hardware" feature".

I do that and it installs just fine. The thing is though is that in the device manager it now says, "Could not start device (Code 10). I can't figure out what to do now. Do I uninstall everything sound card related? Or is there something else I can do? All help will be greatly appreciated.

Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
OS: Windows XP Pro

I take it was newly installed to replace a previous sound card?

First, check the bios to make sure any possible onboard sound is turned off, they conflict with addon sound cards 99% of the time.

Second, delete the sound card from the device manager (after you've installed it using device manager) and reboot then install normally, that should fix your problem. This time, install JUST the drivers, don't add any of the extra utilities crap that Sound Blaster puts on the driver disc.
