im using windows 10 and renegade plays fine i just have no sound at all

Did windows fail to install sound drivers? You might have to go into the config.exe and reselect your sound driver.

i just went into device manager and updated the driver and it didnt do anything

i put the system disk in and installed the driver from there works fine now
