Why would you want to launch the game just to close it and open RenList when you can just use RenList in the first place?

He means he wants the list that RenList shows under the GSA tab to also showed ingame when you press GSA Wink

Or that is what I assume anyway Razz

Yeah a list of gamespy servers like when you click on the westwood online you get the xwis servers. I think that would make things easier for new players or those who don't understand renlist; when xwis drops player counts drop.

should do the same thing with the WOL button, considering how garbage XWIS is

There is nothing wrong with XWIS itself. It's the asswipes that attack it.

Nothing wrong with returning error conditions (such as incorrect password) as success and stuffing the actual error into a "MOTD" that is only shown once and returning a blank server list while making it difficult to actually correct the error as a user. Roll Eyes

I remember that in order to register on XWIS years ago I had to look through a few forums before I found out you just typed in a name and an 8 character password.

Is that even still the case?

Anyways, it would be nice if clicking multiplayer brought up a window explaining the differences between XWIS/WOL and GameSpy including instructions on how to play with each.

nope, you have to register an account then register your serial on the xwis website now, something hardly anyone knows.

that's absolutely true
it doesn't explain it anywhere, and it basically blew the chance that anyone new would come to Renegade
why on earth would someone seek that website out at random and know to register their serials on there to play online? it's terrible

Even I don't know how you're supposed to register it and I've been on these forums for 10 years. I gave up using XWIS when they added that stupid requirement, just makes things needlessly complicated for no good reason.

The interface used for registering doesn't look legit at all, basically looks like it came out of 1995 and the name of the actual community is 'strike-team.net'

lol

I've been asked countless times how to set up an account but I can't get my pretty little Scottish head around it.

Well this topic is still going on. I have to say I haven't watched much Anime recently (maybe a year or so) the last thing I saw was GITS (for the third time)

Im not too sure whether I just dont enjoy Anime anymore or whether its just I dont have time really to shit and watch it.

In TT we've changed it so that it links to the actual registration process, but people who don't have TT will probably don't have a clue on how to register/change their password.
