I recently updated my TT patch through the auto-update (last time i updated TT at all was a few days after it's official release)
Now every time i click any game starting .exe's it gives me an error message that says "Failed to start Renegade"

My bad if this has been posted before

Can you quote the exact error text and/or post a screenshot of the error message?

Uh, that's the problem then. Can you try to run mixcheck.exe as administrator?

I got a similar problem. Renegade with scripts 4.2 had been working properly until I upgraded to Windows 7 (x64). When I reinstalled Renegade and scripts 4.0 I was no longer able to play. I got the same error Zeratul got. I ran mixcheck as an admin and it said:

"Error (code 2): Failed to open TT registry entries."

I also don't have game2.exe

Could you rerun mixcheck.exe and NOT in admin-mode?

The installer failed. Please re-run the installer (as admin).

I just re-ran the TT installer as admin and it made no difference. I still can't run Renegade from the launcher. I have the cracked no-cd version of the game, game(cracked).exe, and that still works to run the game.

I had the issue but i fixed it by obtaining a fully updated game2.exe and implanting that where it should be.

This sounds very much like some anti virus product blocking the installer (and apparently not being clear about it). If you use any anti-virus software, please disable it while installing and see if that fixes it. If you don't want to or are not running any, please contact me on IM and maybe we can figure out what's going on together.

Am getting the same message and disabled nortons and marked everything as trusted. Nothing. It tells me to "set working folder" and try again. I am on my 11th reinstall and getting tired of it.I even went with a earlier version and it does the same thing.I have opened the mixcheck program and it says data\always.dat does not exist or not compatible and it searches for a while with nothing oddly enough after installing the tt and enaging renip it downloads something no clue what then crap out. Any help with this? I had the early version go right over renguard the last time no issus.

Did you let mixcheck finish, or did you abort it? It should run until it says it's finished, and can take a while. It downloads the missing or corrupt files and will put them where they should be. If it completed but you still do not have an always.dat in your ...\Renegade\data folder, then something is blocking mixcheck.exe from writing to that folder, most likely Norton or some other anti virus program.

If nothing works, uninstall Renegade, remove the Renegade folder entirely, and reinstall Renegade and then TT. If that doesn't work either, contact me on MSN or similar and I'll help you via TeamViewer.

I let the mix check run for an hour nothing. Easy fix I was able to have someone send me a copy of there working renage folder and it works. Was the only solution I could find to fix the problem. So I am all set for now.

That works. Smile Mixcheck would have probably finished eventually too, maybe the download was slow for some reason when you tried it.
