For those who are wondering how this happend, my laptop fell from my bed (silly me >>) and the headphones was plugged in at the time. I unplug it and the plug is bent, so I use a pair of pliers to straighten them and I go plug it in and it won't. Is there an easier way to fix this? I've tried google but most of the search related issues seem to appear on macs more.

You've probably bent the inside of the port in the laptop, you might need to take it to a service centre to get the port replaced.

I know this is a retarded question, but how much is it to replace the port?

Well before you try that get another set of headphones (borrow from a friend if you need to) and double check if they will fit. It could simply be your headphone plug is still a bit bent or warped. If another set other than your dropped pair then it confirms the laptop socket is at fault.
