*Failed to get launcher version* message appears....

Either your internetconnection is down or the firewall is blocking the TT launcher. What it does is it tries to fetch a file to see if it's up to date. It needs a working connection for that to work.

Gotcha, but the thing is, my broadband is working perfectly, I also tried marking the exe in the firewall as 'trusted'. I tried switching the firewall completely off but I still get the same message.

When clicking open it tries to open it but it keeps re-prompting this:

I can download it, I just saved it to desktop, then clicked File>Open>Browse>Open dat file and this happens

It seems that it's trying to open it with totalplayer. If you have that installed, can you try to uninstall it (temporarily) to see whether you still get the problem?
