www.alfahosting.be (but they also do .nl, I think). They're not the cheapest but their support is quite amazing. I have called them on Sundays at 20h and the problem was solved within minutes.

Looks more like a VPS hoster, not plain website hosting.

For Dutch hosting I highly recommend http://versio.nl. They are cheap (USA-like pricing) and you get superb hosting in terms of quality and speed. Their support is good, too.
I have some sites running there and I can say I'm very impressed. Lots of bang for your buck.

I must say, cheap indeed (starting at €0,50 Oo) but also limiting (bandwith, storage space and it doesn't even say anything about SSL).
And a shitload of domain names (starting at 25) is fun, but I don't think I'll use that much.

Hostgator is a bit more expensive when comparing the similar sets but also seems to offer more.
EDIT: nvm forgot that Hostgator was dollars so is actually around €5,- cheaper. (except the first time; domain registration gets added, although atm they offer 20% off which is about that price)

I'd like to point out that there is no such thing as "Unlimited" Bandwidth or Disk Space. No Hard Drives exist with Infinite storage space. Usually "Unlimited" is a synonym for a Fair Use Policy; which depends on the hoster itsself what's allowed. Usually when use a lot of Disc Space or Traffic, your hoster will start bitching.
25 domains is what you can host on your account. I think that 9/10 users will never host that much domains, so don't worry too much about it. I'd like to point out that you shouldn't confuse this with 25 domain names being included, it's just the abillity to host those domain names.
SSL is supported; the Server has a Shared Certificate but this is Self-Signed and therefore won't be trusted by any Web Browser at all (Imagine going to an airport with your own, self crafted Passport, Customs wouldn't trust that either; only if that Passport is issued by a trusted authority, will Customs trust that Passport). For a *real*, legit SSL Cert you need a Dedicated IP address, for which Versio wants €3,- monthly, which equates to €36,- per year. Also, all prices listed are excluding VAT. (Exclusief BTW, dus prijs * 1.19)
Also, exactly why would you desire SSL? It's not really needed except for Web Shops or the like. If you intend on running a Web Shop, I would advise against hosting it on Shared Hosting, but would rather have a VPS with it's own IP, this offers much more freedom and speed, but desires more knowledge of Linux.
Finally, 20 GB Data Traffic per month is quite a lot and so is 1,5 GB of Disc Space, especially for that kind of money. It's only €6,- (Or €7,16 incl. VAT) for a year, I don't think you can really go wrong with that and give them a try.

Adding to what Prulez said, "unlimited" basically means until you start using a disproportionate amount of cpu/ram compared to the average user they won't limit you. But once you do hit that much usage... They might warn you, suspend you, or even straight up terminate your account. They also have a problem with large files, since it's typically a bitch for automatic backup cycles.
Personally my strategy is to go with a free host that provides php support and a control panel. Once you start gaining more traffic to your site it's time to move into VPS territory and then later into dedicated or colocation hosting if your site becomes really popular.
Paid shared-hosting I skip entirely. It can of course be good and maybe even perfect for some people but I find it to always be a coin toss trying to find the "right" company and I just don't feel like going through the trouble... Not to mention giving out your credit card details to all the shitty companies you have to go through until you finally find a decent host.

I want more possibilities then just PHP. ie CGI, Perl etc.
Though I'm not ready for VPS and up yet. Also have to keep an eye on my budget, which isn't much as a student.

@Prulez: Thanks for writing all those prices down (you didn't have to calculate years etc though) and clarifying the 25 hostnames.
I might use Versio then as a step-up and when I reach the limits, I'll probably go to Hostgator and then pretty much the path a000clown said (2nd quote).

Yea but the thing about shared-hosting is that whatever company you choose likely has many servers.
I've paid for shared-hosting and the service was acceptable, but someone else with the exact same plan with said host might be on a different server than I was and is getting horrible service. See the problem? I could recommend you a host that is giving me fantastic service, but when you join you could very well end up on an overcrowded server that's constantly having slow service and/or downtime.

My recommendation would be GearHost. In a nutshell you get a shared site on a cloud network that is blazing fast (I have many production software running on this and its great), MySQL+MSSQL databases, SmarterEmail+SmarterStats (both really nice software), Asp.NET (up to 4.0 AND FullTrust <--- Big Deal), remote IIS management, and more.
The downsides is they do not offer DNS management at the moment, so you must use your own provided by your domain registrar. If you want to know more hit me up, or just hitup GearHost.
Oh, and its like $9.99/month+$1 for stats($10.99). They also offer Cloud Servers (virtual dedicated on cloud network) at $99/month.
