That's really shocking to me. He was very strongly anti-cheating... well any sensible person would be, but I thought he particularly disliked cheaters.

I wonder what made him do it in the end. Maybe just boredom and not caring anymore?

Personally, I doubt he was always using cheats. He was a very good shot, but he did literally nothing but snipe people in tunnels... he had lots of practice. Also, I'm sure The Pits ran RenGuard and he still played the same? I'm not sure he would have been able to bypass it at the time? I tend to believe he was a genuinely good player, who for some reason, turned to cheating. It's a shame.

In the last year or two I bet it wasn't the case. I agree he was a good shot, but not a "very good" shot. He definitely wasn't like how he was playing pulling off headshots 24/7. The cheat he used gets around renguard with ease...most cheats do. It was designed to bypass Renguard and is largely the most undetectable cheat in this game made. If the user is smart, it's extremely tricky to catch. One of our mods was set on catching him, it took a good month before he slipped up this way.

I meant that I doubt he was cheating around 2005-2006, because I haven't played Renegade for a long time. He seemed legitimately good back then. I don't mean that he wasn't cheating for the last couple of years, if you people who caught him think he was. You'd know a lot better than me, obviously.

That's the trouble with cheating though, isn't it? It brings everything you've ever done into question.

Yeah I don't recall anything suspicious back when I played with him in like 2002-2004.

LOL at that video, that's a instant Renegade classic there. Thumbs Up

Correct, that would NEVER happen in the game.

i thought you owned and/or ran renstation speedy
Whats That

well, if you see the moment before the nod soldier starts firing (you'd think he's about to fire at the engineer right in front of his face) his gun snaps at the mountain and unloads a hefty load of bullets
he was attempting to remove the engineer's face with an aimbot, but that aimbot targetted the closest target (which was on the other side of the rock wall)
he was trying to hit a guy he likely didn't know was there or just didn't notice (that cheat acts like a wall hack as well in a way)

I'd like to see msgtcheat come in here and defend himself. Especially after years of accusing me of cheating in his server when I flew an Orca/Apache or used an APC. He had a hard-on for thinking I cheated because I bothered using the tracer bullets to aim in front of people so they ran into them.

I bet if you made renstation again and set it to the map lightwave it would instantly fill up to a constant 60 people server again

lol...I played the hell of out of renegade back in the day. When I was fourteen around 2003, I use to play the pitts a nice amount. This one day (can't remember the maps name) I was going down a tunnel with an eng when mgst was at the entrance of the tunnel. I headshot him with a pistol and he instantly banned me. he thought I was cheating cause I didn't have renguard on. it was funny cause at the time, I got the first decade so me and my brother had 2 renegade games now. For some reason i couldn't get renguard on it with first decade. Long story short, i was raging like a typical teen on the internet cause I didn't cheat and everyone on the pitts forums was bashing me because of me being so angry along with the fact i didn't have renguard on Razz. they unbanned me and I played on the server but no one that was part of the pitts said anything too me. even though I did just as good as them a nice chunk of the time Razz. All in all, the pitts was a nice server for its competitiveness but lol....its funny too see this video. karma is a bitch.
