We are celebrating the death of a mentally insane mass-murderer who justifies killing innocent people, not just americans, under the category of religion.
I had family almost killed in 9/11, 1 got out of the trade center just in time, and the other 2 got out of the buildings near the pentagon as soon as they got wind of the first attacks.
P.S. Osama was the Hitler of the 21st century.

Exactly. The events of 9/11/01 affected all of us Americans in ways that foreigners simply can't understand.
I'm glad you got out of the WTC. I was over in Arizona just watching on the news. My sister was an EMT in upstate New York and she went down with some friends to help dig for survivors that evening. We were pretty scared for her. It seems a lot of people here were either affected or are close to someone who was.
I wish Bin Laden could have been arrested and stood trial for what he did but I also realize it's completely not feasible. First of all, it was possible that there were traps or unknown weapons that could have hurt or killed our men when they raided his hut, and if they did arrest him and bring him to Gitmo or something, then there could have been massive and unknown consequences and risk for Americans and our allies. Hijackings, bombings, etc... to persuade us to release him.
But no, I'm not celebrating in the streets or hosting "Osama is dead" parties, and I know that his death doesn't mean the end of Al Qaeda or radical Islamic terrorism, (or any religion-based terrorism for that matter) but the world is definitely just the slightest bit better with him dead. That much is for sure.
I'm the bawss.

actually, both osama and saddam are comparable to hitler, but in slightly different ways. the only way in which they are not comparable to hitler is neither of them are anywhere near as powerful as nazi germany was at the time. saddam was equally mentally deranged as hitler was (towards the end anyway), and osama's level of murderous loathing towards quite a lot of other religions was on hitler's level towards the jews.

i made a point on a different forum that if anything is a genuine insult about the osama death situation, it is giving him an islamic funeral.
osama bin laden was hands-down the worst enemy of muslims all over the world. and i mean that quite literally. i don't mean some indirect way of making people suspicious of muslims; i refer directly to osama's ideology and method. osama had a murderous loathing of quite a lot of other religions - hindus, jews, christians, atheists - but the one demographic he despised above all other was non-orthodox muslims. if you were a shia muslim, osama and his cronies consider you fit for death. i'm going to repeat that for mudkips' benefit cos i think he doesn't know the faintest thing about osama: if you're the wrong kind of muslim, osama wants you dead. (forgive the present tense, don't look into that)
if you're the "right" kind of muslim (sunni), then osama is content to slaughter as many shia as possible to incite a counterattack against you, in which case you have to join al-quada. and that, mudkips, is what's been happening in iraq for the last decade. no, bush is not directly responsible for the deaths of all the muslims in iraq; bin laden and zarqawi were.
bush was at pains to say that america was not at war with islam. ask bin laden if he's at war with "heretical islam" and his answer would be very enthusiastic.

Honestly? Celebrating his death might seem a little morbid, but it basically gives a message of "If you fuck with us, we will hunt you down, kill you, and then celebrate it."
Besides, men might be created equal, but their actions can easily tip that balance. Personally, I don't feel anyone "deserves" any treatment (good or bad- so saying he "deserved death" is kind of stupid), but I don't think it was wrong to kill him and celebrate his death.

I don;t remember why i threw the second part on but i was saying the bibles first testament states an eye for an eye and the bibles second testament states turn the other cheek. Does this leave room for self interpretation? of course clearly in the society we have today turn the other cheek is suggested but eye for an eye is enforced. what to go with?
