The comments are negative because on a scale of 1/10 when it comes to quality, so too are the skins released.
Seriously, there are VERY few quality skins being released. The only people who seem to put any work into their stuff anymore is Di3hardNL and Dreganius.

It's not about the comments, it's about the quality of the releases. Most things being released here are, in my opinion, very simple, ugly and not worth sharing.
In other words, just a pile of crap.
But let's look at it from another perspective.
People want stuff that looks nice. Maybe some of the releases look good for renegade. But compared to the large amount of next-gen games like Crysis, people find it just low quality and don't feel like downloading it.
And OK, we can't help it that Renegade has such shitty engine which doesn't support high res textures and fancy shader effects, but still, people want something that's actually worth downloading, and not a simple texture replacement which has been made by overlaying another image on a default texture.
In the olden days people put effort in creating the texture/model replacements. But with the release of the first decade, a lot of new people have come here. And all of a sudden, everyone thought that he/she could create a quality skin.
Every day I see a lot of people posting skin replacements. And looking at the results I can only conclude that those people have been working on such release for about 5 - 10 minutes. Seeing this, I don't feel like downloading anything, cause I could get the same result in maybe less than five minutes.
What I'm actually trying to say is:
"People, try to put some more effort in your releases, and try to make something original. Don't just come up with the same stuff everyone else is posting."
