Can someone give me a reason why it is illegal in the US. Not the controlled substance part from the gov, the actual reason behind that part. I can't really see any reason for it to be banned as it is basically like alcohol and the same rules can be applied to it.

I watched a special on the History Channel about it once. It was illegalized because of the goody two shoes faggots. They ran commercials on television that depicted users of marijuana to be psychotic freaks. When in reality, a drunk person is much more dangerous to be around than someone who is high. It's complete bull shit.

I don't see the Legalisiation of Marijuana happening anytime soon.
It's the classic case of: what you can't have, you want. It has already been compared to alcohol, with the given argument "alcohol is worse". Imagine a world with no bars (alcohol consumption is illegal), and you were born into this world. You know no different; As do your parents, their parents and so on. But instead, Marijuana was legal. And oh what's this, dealers selling Alcohol. You can't have it, there for you want it.

It confounds me as to why marijuana is illegal because there is serious money to be made there. All government needs to do is regulate the stuff, and let the tobacco companies grow and produce it. Then tax the hell out of it, just like alcohol and cigs.
Hopefully this does happen, because with all the kiddies not taking up smokes anymore, and with all these lawsuits, my tobacco shares seem a little bleak.

Weed is legal over here (the netherlands), and nobody ends up like that. First of all, weed isn't expensive, so the chance of people getting homeless is VERY small. And weed doesn't fuck you up like harddrugs does, the only thing THC does (the main psychoactive substance found in cannabis/weed) is lower your sugar. Yes, eventually it will damage your brain a bit, but you won't look like that man, ever.
In my opinion weed should be legalized over the whole world, people don't get crazy when being under influence of weed. All the people that can't handle alcohol and get all agressive, would be sitting on their chair, chilling, while smoking their joint, instead of fighting/yelling and whatever the fuck they do when they drink alcohol.

I don't think it's impossible- too much of anything is not good for you, but yes, you'd need SHITTONS more weed than almost any LEGAL drug (count the amount of suicides from NON PRESCRIPTION DRUGS..) out there.
but nope, mary jane's vajayjay is the door to heroin and coke and terrible hard drugs therefore it needs to be banned.

Yeah, marijuana isn't a gateway drug. It's just the people that are dealing the weed are usually tied up in trafficking other drugs. That's my theory anyway.

Exactly, so people who are dealing illegally will be carrying OTHER illegal drugs, thus the person buying it will be given access to it, and since it's illegal anyway, at that point they won't give a shit.
But if weed's legal, it's a whole 'nother story. Sure, the gateway shit might still be there a bit (AKA as little as it actually is), but it'll diminish and practically vanish.
