i can see wol servers but everytime it just times out

make sure your firewall allows the connection to the server to be stabilized.

Also if you have a router make sure you made port forwarding rules if necesarry.

how do i do this cause i might have made a mistake

Try to change your connection settings in renegade to LAN/T1

Otherwise i don't know :S

When you open renegade and select WOL to play online you get to a screen where you can select 'Advanced Game Listings'. Stay at this menu.
On your left you'll see a yellow bar. Hover over it with your mouse; a menu opens. Click on 'My Information' and change your connection to LAN/T1
