I believe i read somewhere that sending them back to somalia would be a violation of human rights since they have a severe penalty for piracy in somalia.
But what do you think should be done about them?

I think that the high-velocity lead solution works nicely. For more pirates, use more lead, delivered cranially. Possibly some torpex, in 500-2000lb suppository form.
Their own "government"- impotent as it is- will do nothing, paying the fuckers obviously doesn't make them bugger off (gee, who'd have thought?), so what else is there left to do? They don't even care what's on the ships they attack- their so-called "retaliation" for the rescue of the Maersk Alabama's captain was to attack a ship carrying humanitarian aid destined for, among other countries, Somalia.
These people are poorly informed, dirt poor, and- worst of all- feel empowered by doing harm to others. The warlords they call their leaders encourage these attacks, claiming any justification they can; piracy is the entire basis for the Somalian economy now. The situation has degenerated beyond a point where nonviolent intervention can possibly work- because if such intervention should be attempted, they'd attack or kidnap anyone who came to talk to them.
It's a sad, pathetic situation, but it is not one that can be handled by talking. Blow the pirates away, blow the warlords away, then send someone in to talk. Violence is literally the only thing these folks understand now.
