can he play the 1v1s vs. spoony first though?

This is possibly the greatest idea ever.

This seems like win to me. But I'm unsure if Spoony still plays Ren.

Edit: don't care / don't know votes will be excluded.

no, I don't. I didn't even know he was banned, actually.

things have come to a strange point where one must play a 1v1 in order to get unbanned from a forum, eh? I know you were joking, but if you included that as one of the options I have a feeling it would probably be winning.

That'd be nice to see. Put a few guys to FRAPS it as spectators, too. (as well as both Spoony and Troop FRAPS it as well) Then someone make a nice video of it.

From what I gather from his posts he's likes to post a lot of immature stuff and brutally insult pretty much anyone who rubs him the wrong way. Maybe he's learned something from his "Hiatus", hasn't really said anything to me and I don't know the dude well enough to even vote but everyone deserves a second chance.

Do you guys even realize that he already HAD like 50 different chances?!

There's no such thing as a third second chance... or a 51st in this case.

Yeah Trooprm had a hundred second chances, and all he did was piss everybody off for no apparent reason. If this time off has "changed" him, then that's what he needs - more time off the Renegade forums.

With this many second chances, he'll behave until he feels like playing another game again. He will get banned, and when he's bored and gets back to Renegade he can just say 'Ban me when I don't behave' again to get himself unbanned.

How about NO. Come on, this is trooprm02 we're talking about.

Warnings and weekly suspensions shouldn't count as "new chances."

Because those don't teach anything.

Only long bans that are permanent give lessons. Warnings and suspensions just make the person realize why they were caught, they don't teach any lessons though, meaning the person is still going to continue what they were doing, just in a different way.

It also depends how the person broke the rules. For example, if it was an accidental breaking of the rules, any form of punishment, no matter how small, will insure it will never happen again. But for problems that troop caused, a simple warning or week long suspension will not stop him from continuing on in the future.

That's why only permanent bans being lifted should count as new chances. If he has never had a previous permanent ban lifted before, then he has never gotten any second chances. Red flags, maybe, but no second chances.

Keyword: permanent. The point of permanent bans isn't to "teach the person a lesson" or to make him a better person, but it's for the good of the community.

Hurr, no. That's the stupidest logic. Using your reasoning, people should be allowed to do whatever they want and have no worry about ruining their "first" chance until they're banned permanently. Only "permanent" is anything but with your logic.

The same stupid flaw happens with many court systems. Being sentenced to life is a joke. Most people get out on parole. Knowing this, they don't actually have to be rehabilitated. They just have to play nice. It doesn't teach anybody anything. Besides, you can't rehabilitate people that don't want to be rehabilitated. Like BlueThen said, bans aren't to rehabilitate people. It's to keep the community nice. That's why I support prisons, not because it can rehabilitate people, but that it gets assholes off the streets.

No, with my logic, Warnings should only be given to make the person aware they are doing something wrong and a swift punishment should be enforced if they continue shortly after. No pointless week long suspension.

Tell me, how is suspending someone's account for an allotted time considered "giving them another chance?" They are being locked out for a predetermined amount of time. They KNOW they are going to be allowed back in after awhile, so there really is no driving idea behind it that makes them sorry they did what they did. Or sorry that they aren't allowed back into the website for X amount of time.

In scenarios like troop's, people only learn when they are forced to lose something they've grown accustomed to. So by threatening to be banished from the website for an undetermined amount of time is the best and only way to make sure a person gets the message in this kind of scenario.

It's just showing how the admin could have just as easily banned him permanently, like now. Why should we disregard everything trooprm02 has done, and all the trouble he has caused, and the many times he was warned and suspended, and just let him back in again?

Seriously, that's like someone robbing a store right after they're let out of jail for the 5th time, and they only put him back in for just a week.

Anyways, we (I, atleast), don't give a shit if he thinks he's "rehabilitated" or is a better person. I don't want to have to put up with him and these kind of arguments all over again.

The fact that it is Troop makes no difference to me.

I just don't think that a person being suspended for a pre-determined amount of time translates to giving them another chance.

"Getting another chance" requires you to make an effort to get back in, not just wait for a pre-determined trial period.
