My server is up and running happily now Very Happy

But I'd like to know how to make myself the server Admin and gain my powers as an admin ingame + how to make my friend a full mod + my cousin a half mod.

I edited the file: moderators.cfg accordingly, but I'm not an Admin still. Here's the printscreen of what I put:

That seems ok. Might be u need to change the file where brenbot.cfg refers to (check if it says moderators.cfg correctly in there).

Yes, it's correctly spelt in brenbot.cfg, I don't think that's the problem.

You have to either register your name and authenticate when you join the server (see the BRenBot readme) or disable forced authentication in the BRenBot configuration file. This is all explained in the readme.

Ok, I registered my username in IRC earlier, just forgot to identify myself. So I am currently the server Administrator... But does this mean that I have to go on to the IRC Channel everytime I want to be logged on as an Admin?

yes(recommended, imo). Once you register your nick with the server's BRenBot, you have to !auth yourself via IRC..


I think you can auth yourself via in-game by paging the server's hostname with !auth NICK PASSWORD

You can add your password in the Renguard options -> 'password' window. It will then auth for you with brenbot.

It works perfectly fine with WOL/xwis as long as you use the same nickname to sign in to renguard and to sign in to WOL.

Just like to add that its recommended that you remove the example nicks from the list "mod1, mod2" etc.. otherwise people could join your server with them nicks and start banning people.

I actually deleted renguard, so that's no use, or do you mean the renguard file inside the BrenBot folder?

If you are using BR I would suggest using RG BR doesn't like people without RG. Roll Eyes

What are you talking about? BR works perfectly fine for people that don't use RenGuard.

Yeah, Caveman's right... I adjusted the settings so BrenBot allows me to do everything when I'm not even logged in as an administrator.

Just wondering.... Is it possible to make the !login and !logout commands like on the St0rm Extreme AOW server? And if so, how?

It would save me heaps of time, than having to !auth myself on IRC or having no protection whatsoever with ForceAuthAdmin=no.

You can page the server doing /page servernick !auth password or put the password in the renguard options, "password" field.

BRenBot does not allow you to logout, but you can login from ingame using !auth, paged to the server hostname.

/page a0000000000000000000000001 !auth mypassword

yea, where the hell did you get that idea that St0rm uses BR!?

Sure, they use brenbot.dll plugin...But that doesn't mean they use BRenBot. :V
