You're missing the point here.

Remember that game patches are required by ALL players, so if you patch the game and do whatever to it, EVERYONE who wants to play on that server will need said patch, and i don't know about you but i'm not installing two versions of Renegade just to play RP2.

Read, before you comment, in future.

(And to cnc95fan, read also)

Seriously, what do you have against RP2?

*Acts like a complete retard*
Or we could just copy the game.exe and rename it gamerp2.exe and patch that...

Oh wait that would work.

So EA only offered a public release? EA are doing nothing for this game, they may as well do themselves a fucking favour and give the code to BHS, and then they can "wash their hands" of this game, which suits us as much as them.

You're missing the point. There isn't much in RA and RA2 that can't be accomplished in Renegade with scripts easily. When you look at E:BFD you will noticed 3 sides, and sub sides. Thumbs Up

Oh really now? I think you are forgetting Yuri's Revenge and the giant ants faction here. Thumbs Up Also if you think that Giant Squids with proper collisions are a walk in the park, think again. But it's not limited to just that Wink

Three sides.

Nope it wont work mayby it works enigine technically but in the gameplay it will probably be a downside.

Especially if it are three mainsides (i know that you need three to be true to the E:BFD story)

I have never really seen a fps with three fractions battleing each other.

Besides that you will need a lot of players it will start as 1 vs 1 vs 1

To have an avarage ren game you would require 12 people?
(in your mod 4 vs 4 vs 4)

Oh dear gawd, the score screen won't display which team won correctly, there is no way gameplay can work without the score screen. You won't be able to choose your team either... oh wait, most of the time the servers don't let you change your team anyways, so that can't be whats ruining the game play... hmmm, we already know there are ways to work around the pt, so I think you best explain how it will be a down side.

He means in gameplay. Not technically. I agree that although 3 sides might be cool, it is uncertain whether it would improve gameplay. In some aspects probably, but there might be some severe disadvantages as well. (What happens when one team is killed for example? Gameover? Wait? Its players join the other team?)

Those things might cause trouble, and it is not unlikely that gameplay will be better with 2 teams than with 3. (Although it would be nice to experiment with it anyway)

I just mean it as StealthEye said it, I know the most is possible technically.

Although at the moment I see more problems(Just as in StealthEye's quote) mayby it is good to wait and see how it works out.

I don't remeber using the word assume. You told me yourself, after I had asked you a long while back, when I was with SCUD Storm, had BHP accomplished the third side at all.. You told me that Yuri was not going to be added.

It is a good idea, and it completely outweighs the downsides.

Cheating in Renegade is not that bad. If someone cheats, you can stop them. It is easy to tell who is cheating and what they are using.. a simple kick is in order. There are even ways to test if that person is cheating.

Even more over, the community based anti-cheat Renguard handles some of the stuff. But a game like Renegade is relatively clean with cheats when compared to other games out there.

Not to mention that by having the source code, we can further prevent some cheats from happening. Especially in the new mods out, like Reborn, APB and AR. It would really be a Renegade 2, and not simply a Renegade mod.

If everyone has access to the source, expect totally undetectable cheats. Saying cheating is easy to detect now isn't true at all. Yes, final renegade stuff is, but double-RoF is hard, and even more subtle things are even worse.

You take a sensible pill half way through?

I agree that EA would not release that source code while some of their other game platforms are based on the same or similar code.
