My dollar-store calculator could host a better game of Renegade than that computer...

Is this the same server that is mentioned in http://www.renegadeforums.com/index.php?t=msg&th=27743&start=0&rid=2 ? If so, let's review the server stats:

Server OS: Windows ME
Server Hardware: Unknown, but I'm guessing a Celeron CPU Smile
Server Internet Connection: 56k modem

If so....Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ! Big Grin Big Grin

If not, ah well, good luck with that Smile Big Ups

No the server is proffesional hosted........anyway I have a P4 1.2 GHz.

For how many players are you trying to host on your miserable P IV 1,2 Ghz?

Ren FDS is very cpu intensive.

Each bot will work just as well on any windows platform (except maybe vista). If the fds closes when u boot your bot, then something is wrong with the fds, not with Windows.

I tried running the FDS with that latest BrenBot and it says "bhs.dll only works with 2000/xp/server" and then the FDS closes.

Then your problem is with scripts.dll, NOT with BRenBot.

I didn't realise jonwil had updated the scripts.dll to only work with up to date versions of windows, I assume that has something to do with shaders.dll. Try downgrading the scripts.dll on the server to 2.9.2.

But then the ssaow does not work because it needs the 3.x scripts. Anyway I can get brenbot to somewhat work it just while ingame it does not play the messages and it will not work the !help command or any other commands.

That probably means you set the renrem pass and/or port incorrectly. Renrem pass needs to be exactly 8 characters.

Ok, learn to speak English first, that's just gibberish to me. Second, RenRem needs to be enabled in server.ini for most of BRenBot's functions to work.

It can still parse SSGM logs without RenRem.

A bit of advice: Don't try and host a dedicated server from a home PC, almost all home internet connections simply don't have the necessary bandwidth to host a decent server.
Yes and tell me the reason why I will upgrade to VDSL in the Summer then? Oh wait, 5MBit Upload isn't enough to host a decent Server.

BTW & not to forget: Most of the Rootservers with a "100MBit Uplink" (ROFL) do have this Uplink only internally in the Datacenter and are not going over 10MBit in real due to the shared Bandwidth of the Backbone they're connected with.

BTT, install the FDS, then CP2 (with the scripts, not the BR), then install Nightregulator. The big Advantage of the NR is its GUI which makes it more practical when using it at home.

BR, CS, JBserv etc must establish an IRC-Connection and you have to open an IRCtool to configure and watch. This means one more Program which needs Bandwidth plus one more Process to handle. On older Computers with less Ram, this can be an Issue.

Note the word 'Most', when I said 'most home connections', meaning most of them, not all of them. Sarcasm
