If it was not ships than how was it an accident? When was the last time these cables were severed...never? Now FOUR of them within 2 days, miles and miles apart. Come on man wake up. Someone cut the damn cables. Why? If it's a prelude to war, we won't know until it's already underway. If its for the purpose of spying (installing taps), we will never know (and the media will not report on it, just as they are doing now).

I'm okay with never knowing, or not knowing until the war is underway. Again, I'm not saying it was an accident. I'm saying we don't know anything.

Cutting off communications to a country...particularly Iran in a way like this is more than suspicious.

One thing is for sure...since theoretically it takes a week or so to fix a cable, if something is going down, it should happen within a month.

That article is so lulz.

bbspot says

Citizens unable to voice their frustrations on the Web took to the streets. Many carried placards saying, "OMGWTF?" and "Egyptians for Ron Paul."

Others wondered how a plane could sever wireless Internet connections, and voiced concerns of a government cover up of the real reason behind the outages. "They expect us to believe that a plane could sever a wireless connection? That's ridiculous, an airplane couldn't do that, but I suspect a UFO could," said Mohammed al-Bella in Cairo.

Government officials deny any cover up, but closed alien landing ports at the pyramids to tourists as a "precaution."

I lol'd.

But yeah, 5 cables and wireless...crazy stuff.

It all makes sense now...

http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=37468&sectionid=351020103

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_Oil_Bourse

Iran is opening a new oil market, where the US dollar is not allowed. This would greatly devalue the dollar and the US economy. The cutting of these cables just happens to have stopped the market from opening...how handy. Yep...Iran is off the air: http://www.internettrafficreport.com/history/267.htm

If anything threatens the US economy, the world is subject to the side-effects of whatever method is used to recover it. Sigh.

Who gives a fuck? Do everything we can to keep our economy afloat short of actually killing our own citizens via wars. The job of the American government is to protect its people, and letting Iran fuck with our economy isn't protecting us.

I agree, but if we're not killing anybody, then I'm going to go all Utilitarian and say the benefit outweighs the bad.

If they did it to us, we would call it a "terrorist attack", and probably bomb them.

But if we do it to another country (even assholes like Iran who want to nuke Israel), it's okay?

I'm still waiting to see how it plays out. For all we know, Russia could have done it to make it look like it was us. Whats That

Russia is already building Irans nuclear plant i dont really see any more reasons for them to go agains US... and Iran already hates US so there is no extra fuel needed there.

hmm mayb its part of the new sanctions that members of UN have recently agreed upon?

Cutting off communications to a country on purpose is not a good idea. In fact, wasn't that one of the contributing factors to how WWI started?

I agree. Its a doggy dog world, whatever will keep our own citizens safe....Thats what we should do. I wouldn't expect any less of anyone. If it further's the survival of our own country, I'm going to support it.

I don't see a problem with putting our nation in front of others. As long as we're not starting preemptive wars, looking out for our nation's welfare seems to be a bit smarter than playing nice in the international community.
