As announced in the topic underneath this one, and now confirmed by EA:

EA has confirmed to us that the Command & Conquer series is merging with the first-person shooter genre in new title Tiberium.

The publisher was keeping lips pretty tightly sealed, but it did tell us that the game is pencilled in for a late 2008 release. Official images aren't expected until early next year, but there are scans already doing the round as additional details have appeared in Game Informer magazine.

It's said the game is a squad-based shooter that's set 11 years on from the third Tiberium war, and is being described as Battlefield-meets GRAW-meets Rainbow Six: Vegas.

But I am not sure if it will come even close to Renegade in gameplay.

Nothing will come close to Renegade gameplay that what keeps the game alive. Its not like BF2 and all the other FPS. Renegade is/was a one time thing. But its still good to hear another FPS is being made.

Boycott this crap and just play Reborn when it is done.

Even if you have to wait a other year or two for that, it is 100x better then whatever this crap is gonna be like.

Ill be following this like a fat kid on cake, but I have low/if any hope that EA will make it even 1% similiar to the gameplay of the original (techically, its not even a sequal=gay), that has kept us playing this long. Good short term news? People will be talking, maybe even comming back to this game, and now that this is out, only matter of time before more info is released.

Renegade is one of the longest surviving games... I don't think that its gameplay will even compare to Renegade's without being a Renegade 2.
