When I try to install core patch one I get the error message "Old file doesn't exist" when it tries to download the Mssfast.m3d file. Is there any way to fix this?

Try installing the standalone version of corepatch 2. I too have always had problems with the build in updater.

Yeah, I actually downloaded core patch 2 but for some reason renguard doesn't detect that it's there(and I installed both core patches into the data folder).

Yeah, RenGuard doesn't really detect the manual install of the Core Patch. Just go into RenGuard's options and disable the Core Patch updates.
