Wouldent that cause an increase in latency and the servers prosessing power to rise since it will have to write to the gamelog, then read it (for each client) ten minutes behind?

You could set the gamelog reader to always be running, so it's a sort of delayed video stream, that way it's only reading it once no matter how many people are watching

I'm using the latest public ssaow 1.5 with brenbot andt here's no more gamelog.txt, only a gamelog2.txt which contains only some recent info (since last time brenbot started?). I'll send u a dl link for my latest in PM.

You can find me in The KOSs2 (TK2) discord while I'm playing. Feel free to come and say hi! TK2 discord

what? this is just one client, only one person can watch it at a time. it was intended for server owners.

one last thing, before i can do anything else(because i am too lazy to download and look) the syntax of solder;pos and vehicle;pos in gamelog.

Gozy, gamelog2.txt is created by SSAOW, and is based on when the SERVER is restarted etc. Although if you have the archive gamelogs option turned on it *should* split the gamelog2.txt file after every map.

Also, with the latest brenbot beta you can turn gamelog2.txt off completely and parse gamelog from ssaow logs.

(posting from a very noobish position here)

Couldn't you just make a small program (ProgramX) to send the logs over something like IRC to the Seye program? Ie:

Server writes logs. (delay) ProgramX reads logs, ProgramX sends logs over (i'll just use IRC) IRC and then the Seye program reads them and displays them. (that would mean the Seye program would need an IRC type client ability)

That small ProgramX could then be configurable server side in terms of delay etc. A well coded one would also be very minor in terms of performance hits. (reading and sending a text file isn't very resource demanding)

The major point of this is so that the parsing and graphical end of the work is done on the machine that's going to be viewing it, rather than the server.

Tell me if I've been a noob. :/

what makes you think that?

also before i think about multipeople watching one server im going to get the program woring first

im having problems with file io in forms. as soon as that is fixed it will almost be ready.

i also still need the syntax of the pos tag in gamelog.

i can;t put a date on when i can get a bata out.

IRC = bad idea

direct UDP connection would be a good idea imo

Something unlike IRC I'd say Razz
A simple binary UDP or TCP protocol sounds ok Smile

IRC is slow like hell as normal IRC user, so that would definatly fail.

When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter then "Yes"

UDP is more efficient but doesn't guarantee delivery. I'd recommend TCP because then you don't have to worry about reliable delivery, even though it is bloated.

That's why I said UDP or TCP. TCP is easier and good enough, so I think I would choose for TCP too.

I could get you the syntax I suppose, but don't you have it already for your Sbot?
