Renguard made my serial invalid [message #210673]

Hello,
i usually play renegade via WOL,
but some server told me to install renguard with annoying popups,
so i installed it.
I installed it and now when i try to connect to WOL
the game says "serial number invalid", do i miss something?
Is it possible?

RenGuard does not make your serial invalid.

thank you i ried the program,
but the game still find the serial key invalid.
I update the core patch and all, but exactly the same error occurs,
"serial number invalid" when i try to connect to WOL, so i get no server list Dont Get It

actually i asked them but they told me to ask on this forum, since the error happened only after the installation of renguard.

Try uninstalling Renguard and tell us if the error still exists. It would be a first though that Renguard disables your serial...

Strike-Team regularly bans "shared serials" if they are reported, so its possible that the serial you are using is a shared one (even if without your knowledge) and was banned.

But then it'd say the serial is banned, not that it's invalid.

Indeed. I'm not sure what advice to offer then, as I don't see how a serial can suddely become invalid.

He reported the error message he was getting as "it says reinstall the game with an unshared serial...", which I assumed meant that serial had been banned.

Actually, I've been playing Renegade for a couple of months now, and finally there's one server that won't let me play there anymore until I install RenGuard.

So... Last night I installed Renguard and I got the same message. That my ID is shared. No servers would list. I went into chat support... told re-boot... I did... didn't work. I was then told to go to this forum and read the sticky. I did... but i read that before and removed the "TM..." from the install directory (yes I own Decade)...

Then I found this posting... I don't know what you mean when you say direct connect with RenGuard. Help? But... you should know, that I restored my workstation (I use Ghost 9). The entire HD, and now that RenGuad is gone... I can connect again like usual... except that one server that requires RenGuard. I fear that sooner or later more of those servers will require RenGuard. Please... what is direct connect with RenGuard? Or... How do I correct the shared license issue?

RegnGuard has NOTHING to do with XWIS serial issues. It does not change the way your serial is transmitted or anything like that. There is no way that installing RenGuard can make you serial suddenly become invalid.

Then how to explain his problem though? Could it be core patch related? Nic, could you try installing Renguard but disable core patch upgrades.

CP doesn't touch your serial either. I honestly have no clue what could be going on here, except to assure you that, RG does in no way tamper with the XWIS communication protocol.

If you make any progress on figuring it out, please let us know.

Ha! You're wrong! I've been going over this problem myself. And here's the issue. Renguard changes the game exe right? Well I have CP2 + renguard installed, and the errors pop up. I killed the renguard exe (deleted) and restored the original game exe. I can use core patch and the game works. However all servers detect me as without Renguard. That sucks. Guys, really, the issue is ONLY renguard related. Note: I own CC Renegade and the First decade. So I have BOTH original serials.

There is an older version of the renguard installer that does touch the serial, but its no longer available for download....

guys how long u been releasing core patch? can u like re-check it cuz it been causing loadsa probs for me n some players too... u guys should fix core patch... even if it may be old alrdy... but it causes way too many probs... on SOME comps...

Delete the registry key for your serial and the "woldata.key" file in your ren directory, then use the serial changer.
