They aren't animals. They're human beings who have been ignored by people who claim to care for the well being of the world.

Now stop your bigotry.

They ARE animals, and although im not a christian and i realize theyre are many many many good people, and we will never exterminate them, they will exterminate themselves, just watch
well in my country we have freedom of speech, and i accept your accusation of bigotry, its not ungrounded, my ideas may seem radical, but this is just my belief, you know, and im not intending for it to change anyone elses beliefs, thats up to them, however i would like you to respect my ideas however wrong they may be to you, if youre american, because in my country all ideas and most beliefs must be respected, take the pledge of allegience for example, you do not have to say it or mean it, but you do have to stand and give it respect if youre an American citizen
ill end by saying that, the rich getting rich while the poor are getting poorer, is true in some cases, however, look at the flip side my friend, America is now helping many different countries at once, namely africa, IRAQ, south korea, kuwait, just to name a few
in america, theyre are alot of poor familys, however hardworking they may be, that could use say, the billion dollar package Mr.Bush sent to Africa to help with AIDs
so in reality, couldnt you say that we in america are getting poorer and poorer, while the countries we support are getting richer and richer?
mind you look at Iraq's economy before popular sovereignty, and wait 10 years and look at it again.
Hmmmm probably not that poor anymore is it?

Which ones? The people being humiliated in a prison or the sick little shit terrorists that blow themselves up on busses full of civilians? The latter doesn't even qualify as animal, much less deserve any respect or recognition. Israel has found the best way of dealing with terrorism: high explosives, and a strict "us before them" policy.

Besides, as far as I'm concerned, if embarassing or threatening a few people in front of a camera will get them to give up information that makes life less dangerous for US Soldiers or Iraqi civilians, it's the lesser of the evils. I'm sorry if that sounds cold, but their dignity is not as important as information that could potentially save lives.

(bold, just so you don't miss it)If, however, these prisoners were being humiliated for personal amusement, I'm all for prosecuting the soldiers that committed the offenses to the fullest extent of the law. Unless it is for a damn good cause(saving lives), we should be conducting ourselves better than that, or we are little better than they are.

"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived of the use of them." - Thomas Paine

Remember, kids: illiteracy is cool. If you took the time to read this, you are clearly a loser who will never get laid. You've been warned.

I am not an American citizen, and I couldn't care less for your country's rights and freedoms. I find American doctrine to be disgusting on many levels. Your government goes upon itself to be the mediator dispite their UN agreements for peacekeeping.

I don't know if you know this or not, but what America did to Iraq is called "INVASION". It's not a just war in any way, shape or form, and no amount of saying "but look who he caught/killed" will change that. Saddam Hussien is a bad man, yes, and the position that America has him is "fortunate", but it is in no way just. The ends does NOT justify the means. You can ramble about "necessary evil" all you want, but you don't get a right from two wrongs.

You shouldn't bite off more than you can chew. Fix the problems in America first, then worry about everyone else. You'd have more jobs, more income, and more of this "helper" money to use in other affairs.

See above.

Do you have any idea how much this war costs? http://www.costofwar.com should give you an idea. Look how much money is going to an unjust conflict on the SUPPOSED grounds of WMDs (which were never found, now were they?). I sure wish I had 100,000,000,000 dollars to spend on the welfare of my country instead of killing the populous of another.

warranto

Besides, (not that this is in support of it, rather the reason they proclaim it for) it's retribution for the prisoner abuse certain soldiers have committed recently. I'd say retribution for the retribution will only cause further retribution.

Ok since you seem to be an idiot and don't realize it. The "abuse" was sexual humiliation and was a tactic for getting information, what a concept it was not in direct violation of the geneva convention. The people that were "abused" were terrorists insurgents and have no rights under the Geneva convention. This man was killed and if we hadn't "abused" these terrorists they would have come up with another reason to kill him. I figured most of you people would have figured this out by now.

He's anything but an idiot. warranto is one of the few people I have respect for in this community, precisely because he is NOT an idiot. You could take lessons from someone like that.

I'd have to agree with Java, sticking on topic. I find this whole war to be a huge foreign affairs debacle, and all it's going to end up doing is making the US look bad, just like in Vietnam. I have a feeling that if the media had been embedded in that war the imagery would be just as gruesome, if not more so. Neither side is going to be 'winning' in any sense of the term, and the US and its allies are already speeding up their plan to remove themselves, thus leaving Iraq to be broken and prime to be taken over by some other dictator who will restore the infrastructure at the cost of human rights.

I am an American citizen.

Unfortunately I think Java is right about unwarranted invasion. We seem to have lost something of our ideals in the rush to strike back. Afghanistan I can get behind. Iraq, I cannot.

And he is certainly correct about the pricetag of this mess. Infrastructure in this country would be greatly ameliorated if we would apply that much money to it. This includes Homeland defense, and armed forces. All we have to do is keep the undesirables out. Not kill them, thier families, and torture what's left. This is not what the American Revolution was about, and is not the ideals this country was founded on.

DarkDemin: NO! WRONG! Those weren't terrorist insurgents, they were advocates of the Iraqi Regime, AKA soldiers. And it wasn't just sexual humiliation. And their islamic laws say that they cannot be seen naked in front of women. And just because they are different from us doesn't mean that we can do whatever the hell we want to them. Again, the Constitution defines any treaties we sign as the law of the land. And wherre in the Geneva Convention does it say that we can do whatever we want to with terrorists?

Aren't the trials against these soldiers at Abu Gharib starting to...well, start?

Also, wwith the latest on internet rumors, supposedly there's some more fishy stuff about this Nick Berg thing. Apparently, the CIA had Berg in custody until right up to his execution, but denied everything. There's the whole thing where one of the terrorists of 9/11 used Berg's e-mail address, and the two were riding on the same bus when the terrorist used Berg's laptop computer. Also, during the interrogation scene, some astute people analyzed the film and discovered that the chairs in the scene are the exact same ones as in Abu Gharib, and one of the cloaked guys standing next to Berg as he is being killed is wearing a big gold ring. But Wait! Islam forbids its practicers from wearing rings! So this guy must not have been Islamic! Also, reports indicate that the guy people think beheaded him [al-whatever] has been dead for a while.

Now, it may turn out in a couple of days that some of the things in here are just lies, but I think this Berg thing is really fishy. And boy would it suck if we killed Berg.

You're going to listen to internet rumors? Why don't you try getting your news from a credible news source like Fox News instead of http://www.bushwatch.org? I mean, even CNN wouldn't report such crap unless there might be some ACTUAL evidence to back it up instead of just the hunch of some pissant who will stop at nothing to hurt George W. Bush's re-election chances?

hmmmm java, if you dont like our policys and stuff, i suggest you talk watever country you are in's government to come on and talk smack to america, be careful though, you may turn out like iraq.................FUBAR

and java, ill end by saying america couldnt give a rats arse about the UN, these people are mindless idiots, look at the policys they implied during WW2, (namely, givem what they want, and theyll be happy) italy invaded ethiopia, ethiopian leader pleaded to UN, "if you dont stop them now, you will be next!" no reply, italy keeps ethiopia
hitler takes back all stolen german territory, breaking the Treaty of Versailles was it? also remilitarizes west germany
UN's decision, "well, he has what he wants, so leave him alone and we will have peace. BAM! germany invades poland, then takes france
it seems to me the UN is keeping the same policys that led to a major world war, and well, iraq and afgahnistan could very well turn out to be modern day germany and italy, small, weak countries, but over time, over time my friends, if no action is taken, even a poor country like these two could develop, (or steal) nuclear weapons! Saddam was very likely in the last few stages of development, and, if the UN was left operating the whole deal, we would have a hellofalot of problems in a few years
Why do you think america is so blessed? because we look out for the little guy and keep world peace when the UN dickwads wont do the job

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't say I didn't like America. I said I don't care for your government, or you really, for that matter. Believe it or not, there IS a difference between your populous and your leaders. Your leaders fucked up royally, and your people suffer for it. You on the other hand seem awfully happy that your leaders have allowed BILLIONS of dollars to go to fighting an unjust war, and not into your mommy and daddy's pockets. You're just a product of the media, kid. Open your eyes and read between the lines.

EvoSnipe - Saddam was AT LEAST 8-10 years away from having nukes. Try and find something that proves that otherwise. And we would have caught him long before he could have ever had nuclear capability against the U.S.

Hm...when the UN dickwads won't do the job... Do you have the slightest bearing on what you are talking about? There was not a good reason for invading Iraq. We should have invaded Afghanistan and shut down the Taliban-run government there, but not Iraq. Especially not when we were boasting about 9/11 wwhen we were doing it. [Hint: Iraq had no connection with 9/11]

And Evo, stop comparing Germany to Iraq, Germany was an enormous manufacturing country in the 1930s-40s, whereas Iraq poses pretty much no threat at all to us. They'll never be landing tanks on our shores and invading the capital in war. Didn't we lose, like, 5 people when we steamrolled them in our first engagement against Iraq?

About the internet rumor: It's a friggin internet rumor, I know that, stop pretending like I fully believe in it.
