I have recived emails from about 35 people complaining they have renguard but the server keeps kicking them.

I'm not sure what is going on, but If renguard is blocking valid people that have renguard installed I rather not have the server running it.

so from this point, the UN servers won't be running renguard untill it gets more stablized.

p.s. I strongly suspect people are cheating even with the renguard client running somehow.

I suspect you are right.

I also suspect that the master servers aren't talking to one another so if the SSC connects to one and a player connects to a different one it kicks the player.

Alk - spoke to a couple of people on ur CTF server once they sorted it kickin ppl off, seems they are banned from Alkaliney, like me for no reason O.o cud b the renguard too, dunno tbh but u checked yesterday n said i wasnt on the ban list too, so may look for a wider reason. + ur forums are down if ya didnt notice (soz if u did Wink

I payed yesterday on a server running "PureMode" the peeps there dunt had a plan why their were kicked out by the system it was causing by their textures!

I'm not running pure mod because I like the c4 kity's urban skin for the recon bike.

Anyway, this 1 guy called stfustfu sent me a screenshot of him using BH while the server was running renguard. He was laughing. I swear I wanted to ban him before he sent the screenshot, but to say "he is cheating" while reneguard is active on the server seemed insane.,,,

There are already ways around renguard and people are using them. ALbiet renguard will stop the average n00b, it won't stop the dedicated cheaters.

I removed it from my server ATM. I commend the work of the RG team, but my chat channel gets flooded with "YOU NEED RENGUARD". Some people also get kicked when Renguard is working and active. It also kicked everyone off my server last night for not having it even though they all did and the game was full. I'll look into it in later releases. But at this point it's easier just to play with the cheaters.

We are working to fix any and all issues. We knew there would be a bit of roughness from the start, like I said we decided to release RG now and update it as we go rather than delaying it for more months until it was perfect. We appreciate everyones patience and reporting of bugs or problems they are having. We WANT to hear of any problems so we can take care of them.

As for people trying to bypass RenGuard. We will block any exploit methods that are revealed, and as a last resort we can globally (RG Network) ban someone who is obviously cheating.

Hopefully the fact that any exploit method would involve an elaborate setup and/or only only allow a limited time of cheating, combined with the fact that the RG network is highly monitored and we can and will globally ban anyone found attacking or bypassing the system will greatly reduce the incentive for people to even try to hack RenGuard.

So if you really want to cheat, go cheat on some non RG server. I really fail to see the fun in cheating anyhow. Sure its fun for about 2 minutes, but after that...whats the challenge? How can you feel a sense of accomplishment if you KNOW you will win the game? How can you accept a compliment of your "skills" when you know they are fake? This leads me to believe that the #1 goal of most cheaters is just to piss people off and laugh at their misery...to screw up other peoples games and ruin their good time. People like that piss me off, and its people like that RG is meant to stop, and we will do whatever it takes.

still at the bajaserv it was also like that but then the server private messages the player about it and saying they need Renguard and if renguard is active about a day then the players start to understand they gotta download it and at the moment at the Bajaserv there aren't to many players being kicked but it's almost full all times i check so i say let it flood for a wile so ppl understand .

Blazer I think the problem with renguard is the whole Renguard Network:

- I much rather have a renguard that deals directly between the server and client, I don't want to be connected to a network. My server should do the checking for cheats and report back to the client app. Connecting to a runguard network has some issues (at least for me):

- I don't like the fact that the my server is now dependant on yet another service, errors in that service directly effect player on my servers.

- I don't like the fact that the RG team can send out messages to all the servers at wiill, regardless of what the RG team says, you are basically getting acccess to my servers. I saw 2 "hey thanks for using renguard messages" while I don't mind, their is a splinter in the back of my head saying: "look somone else gets to send messages to your servers..."
You also have information on who's playing, when they are playing and as far I suspect even the output logs of servers revealing what goes on in the server. Wheter you use this information or not is irelavent, ITS THAT YOU HAVE ACCESS to this information that I have a problem with.

-This is yet another step for crimson to control renegade, every time renguard starts up she basically has the attention of everyone. I'm sorry but I'm not giving her that much power. Not to mention you and her are going around parading that if servers don't renguard, they will automatically be full of cheaters. Please, we ban the cheaters just like we did earlier, and atm after the first day, renguard has been compromised and cheaters (dedicated ones) are still cheating. Its almost as if renguad is presents itself as a challenge for hackers, its almost inviting people to hack it.

Even if renguard becaomes stable, I don't think I will be running it because of what I have outlined above. Had renguard been structured like this:

- Direct Communication between Server and its Clients ONLY, no renguard network.
- Server owners MAY choose to connect to the network, but it would not be required.

Perhaps then I would consider running it if it had those options above. But as of now, even with the problems fixed, I have no plans on running renguard.

Again, its not a matter of cheaters or not, its a matter of control, RG just wansts too much. Confused

DON'T USE RENGUARD THEN!!

If you don't like putting your server in the hands of a trustworthy team, then don't post and rant about how you don't like it. Just don't use it. I think Renegade will live without the all holy UN servers being a part of their network.

Back to the first topic: although we are not running the pure mode, people are kicked frequently. And they have installed Renguard. Even I tried to connect once and was kicked because "I dont have Renguard installed" which is untrue.
