I like everything you hate.

I hate heavy metal Very Happy

no offense, but i just dont like R&B Rap which i assume is what you like, because i see it as mindless garbage that does nothing but encurage women beating, "gangsta" life style aka shooting cops, murdiring people all that shit. If it was just some of the beats i might stand it a bit but its not its people talking fast, cursing constantly hehe.

Yea. If mainstream rap had a bit deeper meanings, I might have a chance of liking it. It's possible and has been done before. Rage Against the Machine anyone? I loved them and still do.

And I always find the background beats annoying...RATM takes care of that for me too Smile

yeah, I think so to. but uhhmmm... killing people/murdering people is also in metal. alot though... songs like "killing on adrinaline" and such. but it's ok, I mean, in death metal songs they sing about that to. but you can't hear what they sing. because of all the screaming Smile . but I checked a cannibal corpse lyrics.
Like this: http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/cannibalcorpse/tombofthemutilated.html#1

I think it's quite sick though. but you can't hear it in the song Razz .
Metallica is different, iron maiden to. and alot more bands. they don't use such lyrics. Metallica often writes songs about war, how bad war is and such. like their song "One". and master of pupets.
Iron maiden has that too. songs like "afraid to shoot strangers". and such.

Rage against the machine is ok. I have a few songs of them. I don't like rap and r&b because the background music is always the same. that annoying background sounds keeps playing again and again. But rap and r&b is based on lyrics. r&b fans only listen to the lyrics, and the ritm of the back ground beating.
well, again. there are alot of people who dislike metal. and that's fine. I don't like r&b and such. it's no big deal I think. But somehow other people have problems with the fact that I like metal. then they say, "hey. fuck you, you like metal, you asshole!". and crap like that. and that's very very stupid. That's how alot of fights start with. Just because they like different music. it's kinda, uhmm... "sad but true"

Yes, I know I'm bumping two old threads, but I was actually looking to start a topic like this one, anyway...

cheesesoda wrote on Sun, 15 February 2004 15:18

i'll mix in a little punk rock and some classic rock...but my main focus is the good ol' rap. jay-z, nelly, murphy lee, g-unit, 50 cent, eminem, ludacris, dmx, and a few others. i've come along way from liking hanson, britney spears, and backstreet boys (i still am embarassed about those elementary days).

Wow, just wow. I am incredibly embarrassed by this. At that time, I thought that I had already progressed... *hangs his head in shame*

Oh, and I never listened to punk rock. I don't know what the fuck I was thinking...

Anyway, my current:

Led Zeppelin
AC/DC
Shame Club
The Brought Low
Clutch
Corrosion of Conformity
Down
Pantera
Megadeth
Dream Theater
Blind Guardian
Symphony X
Iron Maiden
Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Parlor Mob
Shinedown
Monster Magnet
Airbourne
Alice in Chains
Fosterchild
Foo Fighters
Priestess
The Black Crowes
Velvet Revolver
Wolfmother

Plus a shitload of other hard rock, hair metal, and stoner rock. Then, on top of that, a lot of older Jazz, Swing, Blues, and Classical.

Aphex Twin, At The Drive In, Ladytron, Mogwai, Muse, Nine Inch Nails, Placebo, Saul Williams plus various single songs or albums by other bands like Led Zeppelin (stairway to heaven), King Crimson (21century schizoid man) etc.

But really, discussing music is gay. There just isnt good music, or bad music for that matter. Either you like it or you dont. You can think "im listening to intelligent music" all day long, but in the end its just taste, nothing more.

PS: download http://dl.nin.com/theslip/signup Very Happy

I like discussing music, and I think there's a very clear line between talented music and shit that's just strewn together for profit. Sure, you can say that you don't have a preference between either, or you like the talentless music over the talented because it's catchier. Still, the distinction is there.

Not to mention that discussing music with people that share similar tastes is always fun.

Yeah, but as soon you crossed that line you cant argue anymore. There are talented Rappers aswell as talented Rockers, Jazzers (I think I just invented that word) or whatever. As soon as we crossed that line, theres just no arguing anymore.

Thats true, but the chance to find someone who listens to similar music in a gaming forum is usually pretty slim - maybe 1-12 people depending on the size of the forums.

Yeah, I guess I have a harder time discussing music because the music I listen to isnt really that popular in my age& country (As a German, Im mostly in German forums for more or less obvious reasons). Point taken.

The sound i'm listening to at this current moment in time is the sound of my computers fan spinning at 100% as it's currently running at around 60Degrees C...

That, and the sound of keys being pressed.

I know, really cool stuff, you should listen to it sometime. ^_^
