I see a lot of people complaing about people cheating using custom skins, making C4 bright yellow, and stealth units visible, about how people can gain advantages over others. But I've come to realize that players can gain an immense advantage from the hardware they use. I used to have a 766mhz celeron with an ancient graphics card, and currently I use a 2.53 ghz pentium 4 with a GF4 mx420. There was a dramatic improvement in FPS rates and it was much easier to play Renegade. I recently got a new mouse, and aiming is way easier, so I just don't understand this argument

True, better hardware would definitely make aiming easier, but don't play Renegade for a while and then come back and you'll realize how rusty you can get.

Hrm... thats why I like consoles, everyone is on the same playing field and no cheats. Every play castle wolf on xbox? Xbox > Pc beacuse no cheaters, everyone has to use similiar style controler and hardware is the same for all...Now if it only had keyboard & mouse support it would be killer...

Yes, but there is a way to see stealth units from far away. Now about skins making bright neon pink snipers is cheating because you can see them wherever they are at (Unless on a bright neon pink level), also making bright C4 is cheating because if placed properly c4 can be "hidden", also removing teh black when zoomed in on the sniper rifle is cheating because you can see more at a time. . .

About the sniper skins, take field for example when your out there. Deadeye is much easier to see then a black hand sniper. Is that fair? I don't see a problem with bright sniper skins. How can you hide c4? Maybe from a n00b who can't see shit but decent players will find it. Lots of people have the clear scope too. I like the way Renalert's scope is. I can't stand that green shit. And again if there any good they'll find them anyways.

- The hit detection in renegade is done on the client.
- If your machine is overworked it can lag the server.

The hit detection is done by the shooter, not the shoot-ee. That's why bighead and final ren work.
