Today January 29, 2004 is the one year aniversery of Westwood Studios closing. Thoughts??? I do.

Command and Conquer has been a part of my life for as far back as i can rember, and so has Westwood Studios. Though i was saddened by the closing of Westwood, I also thought that it may be in some way a good thing for such a large, well known company such as EA to be making the Command and Conquer games grow. As we know now they didnt. Yes they came out with Generals and its Expansion Zero Hour, 2 pretty good games, but nothing command and conquer like except the RTS style gameplay. They changed everything, the CNC Logo, Made an entirly new story line away from the 2 we all know and have watched evolve, Didnt set up a formal Clan creation system like every other CNC game, Didnt set up a ladder. And most of all what they have done and are now doing, destroying CNC. The support we all knew up until that date was the best in the world, cheat free games until the time there was no one left too play, all the most freindly staff, great server support that would NOT let WOL stay down for days at a time, listed too there fans, and cared took it too heart. What has EA done??? NOTHING!! They have showed there true colors to us all. Ladders go down, dont come back up for months, then when tehy are back up its only for a short matter of time, then down again. WOL Constantly going down. I dont know about you guys but for me, i really dont think hacks would have been created, or at least so wide spread so quick if Westwood was still around. Then we email them and what do we get ?? BULL SHIT ANSWERS, dodging of questions, lies. Also on a side note if anyone noticed, for a long time now http://www.westwood.com renegade page has been stripped down. No pages on its sidebar, nothing. Why is this??? No one can tell me a corperation such as EA can not aford to have taht small of a site up. But the Generals site works just fine doesnt it  . Not a whole lot of good has come out from this. I wish it wouldnt have happened.

Those are my views. Please lets not turn this into a flame war over peoples views, just share your thoughts, and look back at the time when we had Westwood studios.

While I agree with you, ACK was kinda right...

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

Wait a sec, FUCK your right lol. I misread it i thought it was today sorry   . /saves for a later date.

Well i do see his point i understand his point. I know that a corperation is about money making, i know that they cant support games like tiberian dawn, i understand that its old, not many play it, i understand that and dont fault em for it. But Renegade is a very young game with still MANY people playing it, that should have great support still. I understand support like that from Westwood is rare, but the support for Renegade since EA has taken over has not even be moderate it has sucked. No reason at all for it.

 ACKs right...

Westwood was not generating enough money for EA (EA was giveing more then they were getting) so they did what anyone in the right mind would do, get ride of the thing holding them back, thus they cut westwoods funding which forced westwood to close. Right now EA is pay money to keep up a game thats not generating anything for them. Be happy WOL is running, it doesnt have to be. And ACK is moderator of the mod forum.

Darn I am still a recruit Crying or Very Sad

I haven't played renegade in a while, but it was my favorite game when it came out for about a year. Then I got a playstation 2 and I started playing Socom US Seals and the Grand Theft Auto games. Then my friend got me to play Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat. Man there are so many cheaters for those games. I wish renegade was back to it's old self.
