This idea stemmed from something I attempted last year. I was trying to re-create the old GDI/Nod pins that Westwood had sold at one point during the late 90s, since I had never been able to buy a pair for myself. The idea fizzled out due to my annoyance with the prospect of shipping individual pin sets to over a hundred different people. Since I have an extensive library of C&C 3D models, I looked into Shapeways as a viable place to set up shop and start selling some of the designs I've created. They handle all of the work that I don't feel like doing (shipping, payment handling, etc) and all I do is create the work for sale.

I'm starting with the GDI logo. I've created a pendant out of it. You'll need your own necklace chain, but those aren't hard to get. I'm also looking into developing keychains, bracelets, and desk trinkets in addition to recreating the GDI/Nod pin set.

I'll get a Nod pendant up soon. There's a lot of adjustments I need to make to that particular model to make it print-worthy. It's also possible to print out scale models of the C&C items I've built, so you can have a pretty accurate rendition of any of your favorite buildings or vehicles. I might even look into having my Mammoth Tank turned into a printable model with textures applied. Let me know what you think, and if there's any kind of model you'd like to see turned into a print.

There's the larger version of the GDI pendant. You can get that in several different material choices.

I remodeled it with splines to give it a more rounded, natural look. This will be a great pendant when I put it up tonight.

You can use pendants as key chains, you know. Just attach a chain to the loop on top.

The Nod pendant is available now.

Are you going to make RA1 themed pendents? I see an allied logo there. Could make more money if you had both sides of the community down.

Well, the good news is that the prints should be orderable now. The GDI pendant had some issues with being too small in a few areas, so I rescaled it and ordered it and the Nod pendant so I can show them on the store.

I'd like more ideas for products, so feel free to drop some ideas. I was thinking of taking some of the TD buildings I had created and turning them into scale models. They wouldn't be huge unless you really wanted to pay a decent amount of money for them. Once they get bigger than three inches, the cost increases exponentially. For example, the textured GDI logo ( http://shpws.me/neio ) at 2.5 inches costs $20 in sandstone. If you pushed it to 5 inches, it jumps to $100.

It's all part of the big illusion that we perpetuate on ourselves and in turn is perpetuated upon us. When we believe, we engage the illusion. When we stop believing we shatter the illusion and shatter ourselves in the process. Because we are, part of it.

Hey ACK, that's kind of the exact same idea I am having in mind for a couple of months now. Every now and then I wanted to practice 3d-modeling with Cinema 4D. The main goal would be to just get better, but the byproduct would be to 3d-print a whole miniture cnc base. I just started with the GDI war factory. But to be honest, I have no idea how to get my crappy beginner's Cinema 4D files converted properly to make them printable on shapeways ^^ besides the war factory having too many details for a 2,5 inch model, perhaps ... probably ... most definitely ... i guess.

Would love to see the C&C 95 buildings or even a base, they were always my favorite out of all of C&C.

If I put them together into a single scene, it would be pretty expensive. It would work if I made them in single pieces.
