Beta 4 "Exiting the game" issue [message #464640]

it just kind of sits there and doesn't move when i exit the game
i tried to alt tab out and eventually just did Ctrl Alt Delete
after that ren wasn't listed as running and my computer was stuck super zoomed in on everything; my desktop icons took up entire sections of the screen
i had to entirely restart my pc

i'm now afraid to play renegade Huh

The "zoomed in" thing is probably due to Windows not correctly setting the resolution back after terminating the game. Next time you can fix this yourself by manually resetting the resolution to the normal value.

The TT problem is something I don't know enough about to help, unfortunately.

Does it happen every time you exit? Have you tried what happens if you run Renegade in windowed mode?

i've only played ren twice since the newest beta came out; the first time i had no issues at all
the second time this happened

i'll test it out again and let you know, with and without windowed mode

when i leave the game it sits there for like 10 seconds with a black screen and then everything is normal, but new problem

i exited a vehicle with a raveshaw and fired; i then dropped to the ground dead, and the server cited that i had killed myself
there was no c4 going off whatsoever and it couldn't have been a neutral shell to my own head because the tank neither fired nor was facing in the right direction

i have never, ever had that happen in all my years of Renegade

For the first issue, please check your memory usage. It sounds like it may be freeing a lot of memory.

For the kill thing, I doubt it's a TT issue, I'm not sure exactly how that kill message works, but my guess is that you died rightfully due to something and the message is just inaccurate.

next time i play i'll see if i can replicate it (the kill thing)

ingame it said liquidv2 killed theirself, like it would if a player blew themselves up with c4
IRC reported me being the one that killed me, and it wasn't one of my own c4 that did it

like i said i've never seen anything like this before, and i've been playing since 2005 or something

the "exiting the game" issue fixes itself; if i intervene my resolution goes nuts

i couldn't get the glitch to happen again, but i had mad FPS drops
the game would slow down to 1 fps and then zoom back up again, making tanking or sniping impossible

actually had a tank stolen from me during one of those episodes

For the exiting the game issue, please check the memory usage right before exiting, or run in windowed mode and keep task manager open as you exit it. Does it also happen when you exit Renegade right after starting it?

What do you mean by "zoom back up again"? The FPS restores to normal later, or? (If so, how long does it take?)

fps drops, after playing for a while, will happen frequently
i'll shoot at a tank, the game will seize up, when it moves again the tank is on the complete opposite side of the field

next time it happens i'm going to check my memory usage

and i can't check my memory during the little black screen upon leaving because that's what makes my resolution go nuts; i just wait like 5 to 10 seconds and it's fine

fps drops are still occuring for me, usually after been ingame for 15-20 minutes.
