Black screen after quitting Renegade on Windows XP [message #432796]

Whenever I quit Renegade on my windows xp machine, a black screen always comes up and I have to restart the computer. The black screen only has the arrow but you can't do anything else...even ctrl alt del won't get the screen off. Is this common or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? any comments helpful...

Did you try to end process with Ctrl Alt Del.. it used to do that to me on vista then eventually stoped.

Yeah I do do that but it's a pain, I was just wondering if there was some kind of fix to it. Thanks for the help though...

I get the same issue, usually a Ctrl + Alt + Del solves the issue by killing the process however if I play Renegade multiple times (about 4 or 5) Ctrl Alt Del no longer works and am stuck with the black screen, forcing a shutdown...
Edit: Using Win Vista 64-bit & XP 32-bit

i used to get this error when putting the wrong input into a shortcut i used to have to shutdown my pc coz the scren went black

Just try to press enter when you're in the black screen. Preferably before you do something else. It's an error message that's stuck under everything else.

yeh or i just press windows key on the black screen and immediately i get an error msg and i close it and every things fine

Happens alot to me as well.

The sleep key helps when all else fails, forcing the pc into hibernation. After a few secs I jus press enter a few times, re-login and can see my desktop = end process.

No need to shutdown Smile

But yeah..it is very annoying.

yeah its not the renegade screen thats black, my whole screen went black, it literally turned my screen off and it wouldnt turn back on :S
