Hello all,

I'm currently trying to compile a list of different antivirus and firewall software and steps on disabling them. I know that I can download, install, uninstall them on my own for this project but many minds are better than 1 and that brings me here for help.

So, what I'm needing are
The name of the antivirus/firewall and steps on disabling them. Whether it's right clicking on the icon and selecting disable or more advanced things like actually going into the menus to disable it.

There are tons of antivirus programs out there but I'd appreciate it if you could take the time to help me out here.

Here is a list of the most common software that I'm looking for.
AVG, McAfee, Norton, CA, Avast!, Kaspersky, Panda, TrendMicro and ZoneAlarm.

spy blaster
spy bot search and destroy

Those are only a few but also the most popular. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

McAfee: Back up your files and reformat.

Norton: Back up your files and reformat. We must be sure it did not infect your files.

Yeah, I reinstalled windows and Norton was still present once!

Reformat is the only way with Norton.

No stupid advice please, EWD and I are being accurate in that even a repair install of Windows XP will not fully remove Norton, the only solution is to reformat.

And better not restore that backup you should've made.

Oh btw:

Hey EWD!

I'm doing good, just been working a ton and staying outa trouble. The reason behind this post actually was something for work lol..I'm going to eventually install those programs on a virtual computer and manually disable them (so that I don't corrupt my real computer).

I read these forums almost every day though, they keep me from dying from complete boredom lol...

How's it been going for you?
