I have a problem myself that doctors can't seem to figure out what it is, but it's related to heat. I'll save the time of not posting it since it has nothing to do with the coughing. But maybe you just have something so rare that only 1 in 1 billion people get later in time? Because I only started getting my issue when I was around 12 years old, and I still have it but the effects of it are not as much as they use to.

I don't know. But one thing, when you cough, before the actual cough, do you feel a tickling feeling in your throat and then it forces you to cough out?

We had a kid in my highschool like that, he coughed at least 1 time in 3 minutes...very odd indeed but sorry, can't help you there.

Have you ever had a test for something irritating your trout, like some damaged skin from a hard coughing fit? Something small and organic like that might not show up on a x-ray.

Like I said on the first page, I think it's irritation from second hand smoke. If it gets in your room, and you spend a good deal of time, and your life in there, then I'd bank on that being the problem.

Is it smokey in the room when you go to sleep?

Test it: go live for a few days at a non smoker's house. Or get your parent(s) to stop smoking...

If possible I would talk to psychologist. Anxiety and panic attacks can cause various respiratory problems. I have been having anxiety attacks for years and I used to just think that I had a breathing problem.
