This is my prediction.

All this Obama "leads in the polls" is pure crap...McCain's gonna win this. And many many people will be surprised.

Kerry was "going to win", too. When it comes right down to it, conservatives make a mad dash at the end, and many people will take a second look at Obama and hopefully change their mind. Not that they'd be doing much better by voting McCain...

There are SEVERAL third parties. It just so happens that Americans are sheep, and they only seem to know how to vote for one of two corrupt parties.

I've always hoped that in a heated election like this, everyone at the last moment ends up voting for a third party, and we have a third party president.

Anyways, I dunno. Alot of people seemed to be swayed by Obama's stupid bullshit.

I was hoping that McCain would (for some reason) concede the presidency to Obama. However, since there are more than one candidates (and write-ins), Obama would lose to Barr because conservatives (neo-cons and TRUE conservatives) would vote Barr because Obama is the worst possible candidate, and a lot of Obama supporters wouldn't vote because they're too stupid (face it, American voters are idiots, for the most part. A lot of McCain voters would do the same if Obama conceded) to realize that there are other candidates.

Statistically, Mac's got a very hard fight.

http://electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Pres/ec_graph-2008-solid.png

This graph shows the electoral college score over time counting only those states where one candidate has a lead of at least 5%.

The states where the race is very close don't count here. For what it's worth, Kerry's campaign barely touched 300 EV's.

Frankly, turnout will probably be huge this election, and that factor will also benefit Obama because he appeals most to younger voters.

As far as I know, Slick Willy signing a bill authorizing Freddy Mac and Fanny May to start buying subprime loans didn't exactly help us either.

Nor did George H. W. Bush caving into a Democratic Congress to sign a bill that made our situation worse than it already was in 1991.

As far as I'm concerned, the Democrats have screwed us over for the last decade, they shouldn't be given a chance to continue. I really don't want my parents to start getting taxed since they are going to raise taxes on anyone making over 150,000 a year.

Quote:

OBAMA: If Senator McCain wants a debate about taxes in this campaign, then it is a debate I have (sic) happy to have, because if you're a family making less than $250,000 a year, my plan will not raise your taxes.

RUSH: Later in the campaign -- this is just recently -- very slyly, very slyly, Obama reduced the figure.

OBAMA: If you have a job, pay taxes, and make less than $200,000 a year, you'll get a tax cut.

RUSH: Whoa! So $250,000 has become $200,000. Yesterday Joe Biden in a TV interview on WNEP-TV, Channel 16 in Scranton Wilkes-Barre lowered it again.

BIDEN: It should go like it used to. It should go to middle-class people, people making under $150,000 a year.

Unfortunately, trickle-down economics is not working as well as its proponents have said it would. You only need to see the reports the GAO have published that have concluded,

Quote:

that more than 40 percent of very large corporations doing business in the United States--those with assets of $250 million or more--either paid no income taxes or paid income taxes of less than $100,000. This was true of both foreign- and U.S.-controlled corporations.
http://www.gao.gov/products/GGD-93-112FS

I'm no fan of Obama, but unfortunately, his economic policy is more sound for these times than McCain's. The other thing is that people are crying that Obama is a socialist, but for the most part, his taxes would be essentially equal to what America had while Clinton was in office, and if I recall correctly, America was not singing the Soviet Anthem during the '90's.

Agreed most don't see the message of the 3rd party but mostly it is also to be blamed on the age-make up of the population.

In a few decades time, after the present day middle-aged and older population dies out/becomes insignificant, the current generally liberal younger population will be the majority. I think then that would be the time a 3rd party can have success.

IMO.

It isn't even that. Most Americans simply vote because they only see these "corrupt" parties... let alone know others exist or what the parties even stand for.

Most people I know only vote to be "loyal to their political party." Disregarding the beliefs of the actual candidate and voting solely on if they are Republican or Democrat.

Political parties have corrupted the politics of America for decades! If political parties were abolished, people would be forced to actually care for the election of the president and not rely simply on the fact they are in a party.

We're talking the United States of America here, not Zimbabwe. If there really was a conspiracy to prevent Obama from being president, he probably wouldn't have even been running in the election at all, and he most certainly would not have beaten out Hills.

A broken, stupid system that has become more than it was intended to be. The people were like WE WANTZ MOAR KUNTROL, and the politicians gave it to them. Powers were delegated for certain reasons, but they've long since been ignored.

I'd vote Obama if I were an American. Not that I like the guy very much, but his policies are more appealing to me than McCain's. McCain's sided with Bush on pretty much everything, and these past eight years have been a disaster to the U.S economy and public image.

Not that I think Obama would change much, but McCain will probably either do nothing or take another step in the wrong direction.

The McCain's campaign has made so many attacks and very false accusations to Obama, by first calling him inexperienced, then bringing up his former pastor, then calling him someone who hangs around terrorists, and now a socialist. If Obama is a socialist, then that would make me Stalin. I was also not happy with McCain's VP pick - a mayor of a small town and the governor of Alaska for less than two years - throws the "inexperienced" argument right out the window.

Just my crazy Canadian opinion of course.
