That's not a weird position, in my opinion. Just because one teetotals, doesn't mean they're opposed to other people consuming alcohol. The same way I support the decriminalization of pot, but I'd never smoke it.

I just think it's odd, no offense or anything intended.

My opinion on alcohol is besides the fact that I would never drink it, I can recognize the derogatory effects it has on people and the numerous deaths it causes in our country every year. Protecting other people is my reason for being against it. I know from America's previous experience that prohibiting alcohol would never work, but yeah.

Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
Not at all. Germany had (might still have, not quite sure) a female chancellor for quite a while, and we're all still here.

Alive and ugly as always. But still does a quite good job.

So to the question. No. But if I had to choose a president. I would choose a good looking, succesfull male white 40 year old and replace his brain with a remote. For myself gender race whatever is not important in that question. but sadly not for all people.

Thanks.

Aren't there less alcohol related deaths in European countries, which, generally speaking, have less strict alcohol laws?

True, true. I agree, people who drink responsibly and such shouldn't suffer repercussions for those who don't. It's a tricky subject to be honest.

Lowering it to 18 isn't a bad idea- It's not like it's in the hands of an 8 year old suddenly. Most of today's population end up drinking at 18 anyways, and probably get less drunk than most guys at a frat party anyways...

It's a tricky subject to be honest.

It's only tricky if you let your personal convictions get in the way... like gay marriage, prohibition, war on drugs, welfare, gun control, etc...

When it comes to public policy, I make up my mind by following specific principles. When it comes to my life, I bow to my personal convictions.

Home boy speaks truth.

I like alcohol, it's a spiritual thing I do with friends, I like getting drunk and having a laugh, I've never got aggressive or done stupid shit while drunk because I don't let it get to me, however.. other people let the alcohol control them which leads to stupid shit.

if you drink responsibly then you'll have a better time anyway.

Would you do meth if it was legalized?

No

Abortion: for or against it?

Neither, I'm for choice in the matter. Whether the person chooses abortion or not is their decision, not mine.

Do you think the world would fail with a female president?

No

Do you believe in the death penalty?

Yes, but not as a "payback punishment" but rather as an example to other people who break the law, making them less likely to do it.

Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?

No

Are you for or against premarital sex?

No

Do you believe in God?

I believe in the idea of god, not a supreme being that is greater than us all.

Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?

Yes

Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?

Keyword: "Illegally." Yes, I believe it is wrong to illegally move in.

A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?

*I'm skipping this question. I have an answer but don't know how to word it without sounding like a douche.*

Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?

No.

Should the war in Iraq be called off?

No.

Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?

No.

Do you believe in spanking your children?

Yes. (I prefer hitting upside the head, but whatever... lol)

Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars? (Those of other nationalities I suppose could replace American with whatever country they're from.)

Yes.

Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?

McCain.

Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?

I know people will judge me by reading some of my answers. Razz

You have a good varaety of some good questions there but they have some stupid questions to.

You've got to see though, I look at it from an entirely different perspective. Aside from being underage, my dad works at a hospital, and I've seen people severely fucked up due to drunk driving and a plethora of other things.

It's just a matter of point of view I guess, becuase I see what you guys are saying as well. If you're responsible with it, that's awesome, just stay that way is all I'm going to say.

Oh, I get that just fine. It's just like people who refuse to drink because they see how their family members react to it or something traumatic happened with a friend/family member. The problem is, you're then trying to make public policy out of your personal convictions.

I'll quote myself:

Quote:

It's always easy to argue the way you think things should be based on your personal convictions, but that gets dangerous if you're arguing politics. To try to suggest that your morality is the correct way to go about politics is wrong because everybody has a different view. Instead, I try to keep my morals to myself when I am debating topics like gay marriage, abortion, and welfare.

Most people have good intentions and only want what they view is best for the nation, and what they view as best is usually what they hold to be their truths. A lot of neo-conservatives try to argue against homosexuality and gay marriage because they think homosexuality is immoral. A lot of bleeding-heart liberals try to argue in favor of government spending for welfare out of altruism. Doing this creates a problem because they actively ignore the rights of others while catering to their comfort.

Instead, I argue based strictly on the rights of the individual. This is why I am in favor of gay marriage much like many liberals, but I am strictly against welfare programs like most conservatives. Siding any other way on these issues is a blatant disrespecting of individual rights. Morality should not be legislated.

My opinion of whether or not homosexuality and welfare are moral is irrelevant whether or not these things should be legislated. If I were to view homosexuality as an abomination, that still doesn't change the fact that the act is not harming someone else. As long as the participants are consenting adults, there are no rights being infringed on. If I view charity as an absolute moral responsibility that we have, that does not change the fact that forcing people to give money out of their wages and income to support the welfare program is a blatant infringement of individual rights as I view government spending should be universally applied to every contributor.

If we argue rights based principles, then we allow ourselves to keep the veil of ignorance that allows for the least amount of discrimination and the most amount of individual rights without impeding on any other's rights. Anything else you argue starts to discriminate against individuals and groups. By supporting one person's moral agenda, you start to oppress another person's rights. The simplest way to go about this is to uphold the veil of ignorance.

TL;DR version: You start to discriminate against people and their rights when you start going by personal convictions. While you may only be trying to do what you truly feel is best for others, you have to allow them to make their own decisions. As long as actions only involve willing participants, there should be no problem in letting people do as they wish, no matter how dangerous. Something should only be illegal when it negatively affects someone who's non-consenting or it involves a minor.

My mum is a nurse, She's still got medical text books around the house with some nasty images in them from heart diseases to kidneys open, rotten livers to heavily infected lungs yet that doesn't change the fact I drink, smoke (though that's only when I'm drinking), in some cases alcohol is good (depending on the brand), contains iron which your blood needs.

Alcohol takes months to do any damage if you constantly drink every day, But you are 14 right? so yeah I guess you're not drinking it yet 'cause your still a "kid", once you turn 15 or 16 your view point will change from "not drinking it" to "Party on Friday? I'm there."

I'm replying a little late, and I might have said this already. I'm not against gay civil unions. I am against gay marriage though. I think that civil unions should be worded the exact same way and mean the exact same thing as marriage though. That would pretty much nullify any arguments.

"Love the sinner, hate the sin." is how I look at it.

That would still imply that religion owns marriage which is ridiculous because no organization can own a word or a concept. Not to mention that Christianity wouldn't be the religion to own it, anyway.

I'm sure the first example of what we would consider to be a "marriage" is from a religion that is dead or very limited in size. Shall we give them the say in who can get married, then?

Oh, and I love how Christianity can own marriage, and allow (heterosexual) atheists, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Taoists, Pagans, Wiccans, etc... to get married, but refuse to allow homosexuals. What fucked up logic is that? People who outright deny the existence of your creator, but since they're straight, you don't give a fuck?

Of course. If your own religion doesn't like it, your priests don't have to officiate at them. It's none of your damn business otherwise.

when you say "love the sinner, hate the sin" what you really mean is "love the sinner, don't allow him to sin". And who says homosexuality is a 'sin'? If there has ever been a moral argument against homosexuality, I have not heard it. But you find it to be a 'sin', so it should be disallowed. Well, if I say Christianity and Islam are 'sins', is that enough to say they shouldn't be allowed?

Read the constitution by the way; the church doesn't run the government (at least, it isn't supposed to...)... by all means let a religion decide for itself who their marriages can count for when their own priests are officiating at their own churches. If gay people are excluded, the simple solution is to find a more tolerant and less backward religion, or go one step further and become an atheist.

I don't understand how people can oppose the term 'marriage' for gay unions, when a guy like Ernest Borgnine can be married five fucking times.

The institution is a joke, and it has been ruined by heterosexuals. I'm for gay marriage, simply because they might actually improve its track record.

All drugs should be legal and accessible to everyone. So yea. Just need to watch out that children aren't doing stupid shit, but they won't.

Should the war in Iraq be called off?
No, only 1.2+ million people where killed and 3+ million displaced, and only pretty much the whole country is in ruin. Also it wouldn't be good for my Blackwater shares.
