I'm publicly releasing my Sync Video program and also a video demonstrating its uses.

http://www.oblivioninteractive.com/SyncVideo4/

Sorry for my voice etc, I'm not much of a linguist.

EDIT: Oh and if you guys find any bug or crashes please let me know so I can add the fixes to the next version.

Cool program!

One question, if the host plays a file of a certain name and if the other client has a file of the same name but different content, will it play that?

If the user selects a file of a different name, Sync will show you that the file names are different and allow you to override the name mismatch if you please. Also, like you were saying if they select something else it will work but whoever has the shortest file will dominate.

And thanks

Would it be possible to implement a different video viewer eg VLC?

VLC player would be choice in this situation but VLC's OCX is a big pile of crap wrapped in a tortilla right next to EA. I was hoping to use VLC so that people wouldn't have to have codecs etc but the thing just wants to crash, not take commands and sure as hell doesn't want to give me back any information like current play position or play mode Whats That

Hell if they would fix the OCX, I could even stream video over the internet to clients and they wouldn't have to have the file.

Never knew that VLC was so independent.

If so, I'm guessing that would be P2p?

It would be a host to client situation:

Host with file -> User 1
Host with file -> User 2
Host with file -> User 3

The users wouldn't stream anything so not truly a P2P network.

That's pretty cool. If you add some features, and work out the kinks, you could have a nifty program that you can go commercial with.

It'd be great for a business that is say, working on a presentation, or commercial and showing it to employees, or consultants around the globe. With the ability for viewers to stop and pause, a person can go to various points to point out parts within the presentation that may raise concern, or need expansion.

Nice work.

Genius idea, I wouldn't be surprised if someone wanted to buy it off you.

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

Should download as a self-extracting exe (VB6.0 Runtimes.exe) simply double click it and the default path shown should be your windows\system32 folder.

Thank you everyone for your comments Smile
