I just recently found out there is a 3rd firefox now(I really need to check stuff more often) I thought I would download the latest beta(Beta 4) of it, so far I love it, and I also noticed that it does use less memory not much but still a little less(ff2 used around 61k, ff3 uses about 53kish), what does everyone else think about Firefox 3? Oh and here's a link for bit more info on it: http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.0b4/whatsnew/

It's the beta for the next version of Firefox. It's only recommended for developers and testers since there may still be bugs in it, hence why it's called a beta.

I run the latest version of the Firefox 3 beta on my XP virtual machine, and there are a lot of nice new things. The download manager has been updated to look a bit better, the icons are all new and it has better Vista integration. There are also new bookmark things and smart bookmarks for the sites you visit most often, and some other stuff that I didn't really pay much attention to.

Count yourself lucky then i;ve had FF use up to just under half a gig of ram. Its not the most RAM friendly program around. However I hear promising things about FF3. I should really install it huh?

I have never had that much memory usage on Firefox, but that's probably because I use NoScript, which prevents JavaScript from running unless I specifically allow it for the site. And since it's the JavaScript engine that leaks most of the memory, I don't get as much stuff leaking.

Yea, they already improved memory usage with 60% and they're still fixing leaks. It now uses less memory than IE, Safari and Opera.

I have yet to try it on my vista computer, but I am looking forward to seeing the changes and the major thing that I like really is the download manager it seems much better.

We're on to Beta 5 now, and it apparently will speed up gmail, and other applications using javascrtipt or something.

I've known they have had a FF3 beta out, but I been holding back on downloading it. Simply because it is still in beta. I want to wait for it to get released officially before I get it.

If the amount of memory your browser uses even crosses your mind for a second...time for an upgrade.

If you're multitasking, running AV, AS and even anti adware programs, AND running Firefox which is using 100mb or so, AND running Windows Vista, then it would cross your mind.

If you're using Vista you should have 2GB of RAM minimum. Vista is such a memory hog that that's the best way to deal with it.

I remember when I first switched to FF. After a few hours, I was like, "Oh sweet nectar of the kbps gods, thank you JESUS!"

I despise IE, and hate on my school's network administrators for even allowing access to it... and for forbidding installation of FF on their computers. Crying or Very sad

No the best way to deal with it is to crush your vista disc into pieces(if you have a disc) wipe it off your machine and install XP.

And if you can't afford to eat, let alone buy XP?

Edit - I quite like it. It mostly works, and it's all shiny lol. No seriously, I don't mind it, I do prefer XP because I know where I'm going with it, but I like to have experience of as many OS's as possible so I can help out more in the tech support sections. Oh, and the cat's cute...

Sell Vista on ebay if you need money but destroying it would be the best since it is always good to know there is one less vista disc on the planet Satisfied
