Ok how can I tell who hacked my router and changed the name on it to "Hi drkillgood"??

Sereously WTF?

How would someone hack into a router they are not directly connected to?

Most probably you have remote administration enabled on the router. This is most commonly port 8080.
So http://1.2.3.4:8080 (your IP) would connect you to your router CP locally or remotely.
If you haven't changed the logon credentials and they're still the defaults, then your open to the whole interweb my friend!

If you can logon to the router CP then you're lucky, if not then I would suggest you find the hard reset button on the router to reset the settings back to default and THEN lock it down!

Do you have Wireless? If so, have you put a password on it?

Yes, and yes.

Passwords and all that good stuff.

Anyway I think I found who did it. They say they did it at least. Just some I have played games with for a few years, he says "cus I was bored lol"

Anyway I know his dad so I can get him in some deep shit for it. Big Grin

I will check the remote admin thing tanks.

You don't. You can put a WEP (not to be adviced: easy to hack) or WPA key on your wireless network so the transfeered data gets encoded.

Or you can just limit access of your network to specified MAC adresses.

Yeah MAC address filtering works really well. Just try not to lock yourself out of your own router like I did the first time I tried this Razz

Wouldn't say that. 128 bit WEP is not the hackers choice >_>, could take up to 2 weeks to brute-force

No, MAC address filtering is very weak protection, it's not worth using.
