Start > Run > CMD

Type in the black box "format C:\"

Press enter.

After that, put your windows key cd in the disk drive and re-install.

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

Wont work, you can't format your system drive while its being used.

Way too difficult: Insert the WinCD. Activate the Recovery Console. Copy NTLDR back on %Systemdrive%

I actually find reformatting to be one of the simplest solutions.

It's always "Okay, I did the recovery thing, but now it says it's missing th-" No. I hate dealing with that sort of crap and the majority of the computer's problems are solved anyway.

only draw back is that it takes such a looooooong time. A problem like a missing ntldr file can be solved in minutes.
A good explenation can get you far Wink

(i must admit that in the beginning i also countered problems like these with a 'simple' re-install of windows, but it is just that bit more learnfull when you try to find the other way of soving it)

Well, if the loader was deleted due to a virus/trojan, the OS is not really trustworthy anymore and should be reinstalled anyway.

If the loader was deleted due to user error, it's a pretty good chance that other files were deleted and it could be faster to take the hour and reinstall the OS.

But you do what you please. It doesn't matter to me.

You really need to think this through a bit more. Why is NTLDR gone in the first place? I would suspect your hard drive might be on the way out unless it is very new. Almost everytime a critical system file is gone, the hard drive craps out shortly afterwards.

However I would definately recomend a complete windows reinstall. Like I said think about why it is gone, even if it was a fluke where the needle hit the disk platter it would still be pretty lucky for it to take out one and only one file. I bet other things have been damaged or deleted as well. There's so much going on here that you can't really know what happened.
