Yo everyone!

I thought I will share this since this is my only online community of people...so. In Love

I immigrated to the U.S. in December of 1999 but it was only 8 years later (Dec 8, 2007 to be exact!) I finally really fell in-love with football. That's like 2 days ago!

Like I mean how could I have missed something so good? It's a great sport really and I think I was confused as to how it was played and had trouble understanding it and so that probably kept me away for so long.

Anyway, it was not my own decision to start watching it but a rather bizzarre series of events.

Last Saturday, I went to Gamestop to exchange a game and all the games there were dumb. Then I found Madden 06 with the Eagles on it! And I said to myself, "why not?" I live in Philadelphia BTW. I think I was tempted by the Eagles cover:
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x168/furypilot/madden-06.png

The rest is history. I went home with it and started playing and didn't know what I was doing. So I went online and found this site that explains American Football to newbies. http://football.about.com/cs/football101/a/bl_football101.htm

I haven't read it all so I have more reading to do but I think I love it. It's a great and challenging and awesome game and I am finally into it! Like man I was missing something good all these years!

And since I live in the Philadelpia suburbs, I thought I will be an Eagles fan and all. I already have lots of hoodies and Eagles hats.

Anyway, so do you guys know any good site that tells what's going on in the football universe? Like scores, games, seasons and what not?

And if I have anymore questions about the game (I probably will) I will post here. I know many here watch football. Big Ups

Thanks!!! Big Grin

P.S. Oh I heard the Eagles lost a game or something this weekend. Huh Huh

Yeah, Philly got burned by the Giants. The Eagles aren't having the greatest of seasons this year. Then again, they are good for a year or two, and then things just fall apart. That's pretty much why I've given up on the Detroit Lions (who blew a lead in the last 3 minutes of the game).

I switched over to the Patriots. My Patriots are 13-0. Very Happy That's what happens when you have the best quarterback in the nation leading your team. Of course, he is Michigan alumni, so we can't expect much else than excellence. Smile It also doesn't hurt that he has a great coach, the best wide receiver in the game, and one Hell of a defense.

Well, I would certainly suggest you pay attention to ESPN. It's the BBC of sports. If you want to know just specifically on the NFL, I would suggest NFL.com.

Might I suggest you start following the NCAA football instead of professional. Collegiate football is so much better on so many levels. Fortunately, you've come around just in time for the bowls that start in 2 weeks.

Also, now you can take back what you said here:

Who cares?

anyone who is normal and loves america watches football

I love America and I HATE football. Hence I don't watch it.

My views exactly.

I bet you £10 troop will come in hear and call you an illegal immigrant..

Let's hope he knows what immigration means.

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

I've never really cared much for football. May be because when I was young I grew up near St. Louis which is mainly baseball and hockey. I do like playing soccer but not watching. Now I live in Nebraska which likes football quite a bit :/

Hey cheese, thanks a million for replying! Big Grin Thumbs Up

I was kinda hoping you (or Jecht) would get back on this. Thanks for the links!

Anyway, yes I will be watching collegiate football also. I go to Penn State (currently taking a break after 2 years) and they have a decent football team (I think).

As for my previous quotes regarding football, haha, you won't believe I was searching for it too to include in my post but couldn't find it. Anyway, you got it. I guess, I take it back! Big Grin

Also a question:
Why do they kick the ball after the fourth down? And after they do so, do they start the play from the yardage line closest to where the ball lands? Or I am being n00b?

@Ryu

But I came in an airplane from the other side of the globe. I still could have used these though if the oceans only cooperated!

No, they kick it to get the ball as far away from their goal possible so the opposing team has to go further to score. At least thats what I have noticed.

Green Bay ftw.

greatest season since the mid 60s.

They punt the ball ON fourth down. That isn't mandatory, but it's best to punt the ball unless the team is trailing late in the game.

Unless a kick returner fields the ball and attempts to run towards their opponent's goal line, the ball is placed where the ball rests. If it's a kick off (not a punt... kick off's happen when a team scores or it's the beginning of the half), and it goes out of bounds, then it's placed at the opponent's 35 (or 45?) yard line. This isn't the same for punts. If a punt goes out of bounds, it's placed at the point where it goes out of bounds.

Penn State is playing my favorite team, the Texas A&M Aggies, in the Alamo Bowl (AKA the Toilet Bowl). Hopefully we win. Big Ups

P.S. It's a lot more fun to play in real life then on Playstation. Big Grin

Kill the Carrier is way more then fun sitting inside playing video games.

Unless it's renegade D:

And, If it lands, and is recovered in bounds, it's where it lands, and it returned from.
If it lands out of bounds, the whistle is blown, and play starts for the other team where the ball went out.

yes, green bay ftw Thumbs Up

if you don't punt or score a first down after 4th down the other team gets the ball where you last had it; if your team is on the 50 yard line and on 4th down doesn't get to the first down it's called turnover on downs and the other team takes over from the 50 yard line

football is good Big Ups

Wait, you switched teams??? what the fuck happened to supporting your local team no matter what? You are sounding like a Man Utd/Chelski/Arsenal supporter

I've never heard of that rule. It's not like I'm a fair-weather fan, anyway. I haven't been a Lions fan in a few years, and I didn't switch to supporting them this year when they started 6-2.
